In continuation of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu  SAN commitment to make Ondo State roads complied with world approved standards, the ever busy Oda  road has been  slated for dualization

Speaking on this development,  the commissioner for Works and infrastructure Hon Saka Yusuf Ogunleye said the government was deeply worried about the deplorable state of the road and the hardship being experienced by commuters plying the road and residents of the area

The commissioner was speaking at the palace of Olojoda of Oda, where he  briefed the Regent oba Abike Akosile on the need  for the residents to cooperate with government and the contractor to ensure timely completion of the project

According to him,  there were hundreds of requests from people who wanted government to attend to their roads,  but the Governor has in his magnanimity approved dualization of Oda road among others. that are receiving attention in the state

The commissioner said the process of demolishing shanties and other illegal structures has began  with marking of the structures for demolition by the state ministry of physical planning and urban development

Hon .Ogunleye  who said the chunks of Ondo State Civil servants reside in the area called for sacrifice from all who have shops,  kiosks , containers on the road  sides  to remove them  to allow the Contractors commence work.

The Commissioner said  the government of Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN  would not play politics with the  life of the people noting that the Governor is a promise keeper and would not abandon any road project under construction

Responding the Regent,  Oba Abike Akosile thanked the Governor for his intervention on some critically failed roads in the state among which Oda road is one

Oba Akosile said  the incessant traffic congestion being experienced on the
road was as result of rapid expansion of the town as well as other  communities in the axis like  Ijigba,  Aaye, Ilekun  etc which are also expanding daily.

The Regent said the town had for long made provision for dualization because there were enough setbacks from the major road to the residential buildings

She promised the cooperation of the residents of the town with  the Contractors while the project lasted noting that Oda community would remain grateful to Governor Akeredolu for the good gesture.

Also speaking a community leader in the area Mr Oluwole Ige said  Oda town was a source of Internally Generated Revenue to the state  since the establishment of  Cocoa Board by the late sage Chief  Obafeni Awolowo in 1954.

He therefore thanked Governor Akeredolu for his plan to decongest the the only road leading to the town from Akure through dualization
