#Ondo2020: I Will Run Under AAC, Work On The Elements Of Human Security, Adeleye Announces
A governorship hopeful, Adekunle Adeleye, has announced he would be contesting under African Action Congress. This was stated in a statement shared to some selected journalists on his decision to fly the flag of AAC in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in the state. According to him, he settled for the party because it's a home to people of like minds, who have strong love for the nation and unshaken commitment to the growth and development of Nigeria.
In the statement, he explained the elements of human security, one of the latest paradigms in International Relations discussion, make up his manifesto for the good people of Ondo State. These human security, which include economy and health, will see to the rise of Ondo amidst the comity of states in Nigeria.
According to him, through the Economic Security plan in his manifesto, Ondo State will become the third largest economy in West Africa as the government has no business running business. When elected, he assured 'Ondo State will instantly begin to engage with the federal government to underscore and expose the fiduciary relationship between us, sometimes by negotiation and when necessary, by litigation, to the benefit of our great state. We will re-establish old, decayed enterprises, support existing businesses, pursue new ones and back them up with strong and smart legislation for continuity and posterity.'
Privatization will be the bedrock of our economic policies where indigenes can invest and be prosperous. We will encourage formal and informal apprenticeship which will be crucial in the growth of innovative technologies after opening up the state to broadband internet access. This effort will also drastically reduce undue pressure on the job market.'
On Food Security, Adeleye believes embracing agricultural technologies will bring food to the tables of Ondo people as farmers would be encouraged to organically grow their plants. While assuring the people of exploring all aspects of farming, he is ready to support them with the needed infrastructures.
'I am of the firm belief that the best way to improve the health sector is by massive investment in public health, where prevention rather than cure will be the main focus. According to W H O malaria remains one of the biggest challenges in Nigeria today.'
Adeleye believes health security is important and the present administration in Alagbaka is eroding the legacies of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko in maternal maternity. He assures the people of the state his total commitment to revamping the decaying health sector.
Stating his readiness to adopt the state policing system if and when granted, he is committed to personal security of the people of Ondo state and their properties. In his words, 'we will produce the most effective police, the best equipped, the best remunerated and the best structured. Indeed, our state will be the safest in the country as we recognize the importance of security in these dangerous times and development.'
The governorship hopeful also threw his weight behind the Western Nigerian Security Network tagged 'Operation Amotekun', citing the readiness of the people to practice communal security to defend the land against external incursion and aggression on our land.
On his plans on political security, Adekunle Adeleye reiterates his plans to carry the people along when elected. He promises to make the people the government while he would only be there as governor. He also assured the people of transparency and accountability in government.
Adekunle Adeleye is from the Southern senatorial district of Ondo state.
