Members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by Comr. Lucky Emonefe, GCNS, in their large numbers, converged at the Office of the Secretary to The Government of The Federation to pass a vote of confidence on the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, Hon. Sunday Asefon and the Minister of State for Youth Development, Hon. Ayo Olawande. This is as a result of a politically motivated kangaroo protest staged against them yesterday by some unknown hoodlums who were clamouring for their removal without any tangible reason.
NANS leaders and members alike, from over 15 states of the federation, converged today in their numbers to express their displeasure at the politically-sponsored protest staged yesterday to merely tarnish the images of the SSA and the Honorable Minister without proof(s) of negligence or incompetence.
Hon. Sunday Asefon has been up and doing since he assumed office. He has brought several developments and initiatives that has changed the face of the Nigerian Students Community and there are programs still lined up for the growth and empowerment of Nigerian Students.
Hon. Ayo Olawande on the other hand has toured almost all the states of the federation, creating awareness for youth inclusivity and job opportunities for the Nigerian Youth via collaborations and rigorous engagements of individual stakeholders and corporate organizations across board. Being a youth, he knows where the shoe pinches and he has never left any stone unturned in bettering the lives of the Nigerian Youth since he was appointed.
As a result of this, it was disheartening, undermining and demoralizing for Nigerian Students to wake up yesterday to see some miscreants under the guise of students staging a protest and racketing for the removal of two of the best hands in the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the aim of impressing their paymasters who we learnt were around yesterday in preparation for their NEC meeting at the Wadata House today.
We hereby want to unequivocally assert that Hon. Sunday Asefon and Hon. Ayo Olawande are as efficient as time at everything they do and their effectiveness in carrying out their duties are unparalleled.
Conclusively, the leadership of the Nigerian Students, NANS, with today's protests and many testimonies to the credits of these honorable individuals, is passing a vote of confidence on the Senior Special Assistant on Students Engagement, Hon. Sunday Asefon and the Minister of State for Youth Development, Hon. Ayo Olawande. They deserve to be awarded and rewarded for all they have done so far. We believe in their capacity to perform and change the existing narratives and the over 40.1 million Nigerian Students are satisfied with their conducts so far.
