...visits family at Okitipupa

Former Deputy Governor of Ondo State and Gubernatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), H. E. Barr. Agboola Alfred Ajayi, on Sunday morning paid a condolence visit to the family of late Senator MAE Onunkun at their Okitipupa country home. Senator Onunkun, a second republic senator passed away at the age of 99 on Wednesday, 15th of May 2024.

"Baba's death is extremely painful as he left when we needed him most. Baba and I share memorable and lovely experiences while he was here with us and it will be imprinted in our hearts." he said while being received by the deceased Senator's immediate family, led by one of his sons , Mr Ayodele Onukun .
"Baba lived a fruitful life, he served the nation meritoriously, and of course his immediate community diligently. He has left his landmarks across the Senatorial district and it will be very difficult to find a suitable replacement at this crucial time in our State.

"While we rue Baba's demise, we are here to share this loss with the family and let you know that we are with you at this grieving moment. God Almighty will grant peace to his soul" he added.
Responding, Mr. Ayodele Onunkun, the late Senator's son thanked the delegation for finding time out of their busy schedule to commiserate with them. "We tried our best to keep Baba alive longer but unfortunately age caught up with him but we thank God for everything"

"Baba spoke well of His Excellency, Agboola Ajayi while he was still here with us. He spoke glowingly of how you're a very tactical politician and should be called surprise. He will be happy to see you here"

"The date of the burial will be communicated to everybody very soon and we hope to see you." he said.
Senator Michael Onunkun was a Second Republic Senator from the old Ondo State. He represented Ondo West Senatorial District, now Ondo South, in the old Ondo State from 1979 to 1983. Onunkun was blessed with two wives and 12 children.
