The Peoples Democratic Party 's candidate in the scheduled Ondo state gubernatorial election, H.E. Agboola Alfred Ajayi, has charged Muslims to remain dedicated to the service of Allah, show love always and above all, imbibe the spirit of sacrifice.
Ajayi gave the charge in his goodwill message to Muslims as they begin the Eid-ui-Adha celebration.
The celebration marks the remembrance of the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son to Allah.
In the message signed by his spokesman , Sam Ogunmusi and issued in Akure on Saturday, Ajayi said the essence of sacrifice should not be lost on our adherents of the Islamic faith.
He said Ondo state in particular and Nigeria as a nation, more than ever before, need leaders and followers with the spirit of sacrifice to reset our socio-political and economy for the betterment of the nation and its people.
The former deputy governor said challenges presently facing the people required the efforts of all citizens to overcome, stressing "only we can solve our problems"
Ajayi noted that " as a people loved by Allah, we have great potentials and all that is needed is that we show the right commitment and determination to move our state to its deserved position"
He said "we are fast approaching that stage again in our state, when we have the opportunity to make sacrifices to enable us live a better life and ensure a better future for our children unlike what obtained at d moment as hardship pervade the state "
" Election periods, like we are about to have this year, is an opportunity to give hope to a better life over the current hardship being experienced by our people.
" If we can make the sacrifice, by shunning every form of inducements and vote right, we will be the better for it ,as only a government with a human face which the PDP represents, can truly deliver the dividends of democracy and put smiles back on the faces of the people "
While wishing the people a happy celebration, Ajayi urged them to also impact people around them during the celebration.
He said "brotherhood, forgiveness, moderation and sacrifice, were some of the lessons of the occasion and urged the people to continue to make the lessons part of their lives, even after the celebration as we continue to pray and work towards a better Ondo State "
