Ondo Redemption Front Urges INEC to Address Voter Registration Concerns in Ondo State

The Ondo Redemption Front (ORF) has raised concerns over the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the ongoing registration and validation of voters ahead of the upcoming Governorship election in Ondo State.

Feedback from the ORF’s radio program, APERO, indicated that INEC is not adequately facilitating the process, potentially disenfranchising eligible voters.

ORF, in a statement through its publicity director, Yomi Adebayo, emphasized the critical role of INEC in ensuring a smooth and inclusive electoral process. The group called on INEC to take immediate action to address the issues raised by the public and ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to register and validate their voter information.

"Many individuals have reported difficulties about long waiting times and a lack of adequate information about the registration process," the statement read. "These challenges, if not addressed promptly, could lead to the disenfranchisement of a significant number of voters in Ondo State."

ORF stressed the importance of every eligible voter being able to participate in the democratic process, highlighting that the credibility of the election depends on an accurate and inclusive voters' register. The group called on INEC to deploy more resources and personnel to registration centers, extend registration hours, and launch a comprehensive public awareness campaign to inform citizens about the registration process.

The ORF also urged INEC to leverage technology to streamline the registration and validation process, ensuring that it is efficient and accessible to all. "In this digital age, INEC must embrace innovative solutions to make the voter registration process more efficient and user-friendly," the statement added.

Furthermore, ORF appealed to political parties, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to collaborate with INEC in facilitating the registration process. "This is a collective responsibility, and all hands must be on deck to ensure that the rights of eligible voters are protected," ORF concluded.
