#JUSTIN: NUIKAS Elects New Leadership In Peaceful and Transparent Election

The National Union of Ikale Students (NUIKAS) has successfully concluded its general elections, with new executive and legislative officers emerging to lead the union. The election, conducted at Salvation Primary School, Ode Omi, Irele Local Government Area, was held in a peaceful and democratic atmosphere, free from incidents of violence.

According to a statement from the NUIKAS Electoral Committee, the process adhered strictly to the provisions of the NUIKAS Constitution to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability.

The screening of aspirants was conducted in line with the constitutional guidelines, specifically Sections 2 and 5, which outline eligibility and qualification criteria. While most positions were unopposed, the race for Senate President was highly contested with three aspirants: Comrade Anuoluwapo Rebecca, Comrade Ogunmola Omolaso Christopher, and Senator Akinnuoye Ayomide. Following verification, only Senator Akinnuoye Ayomide met the eligibility criteria, as he is a serving senator and principal officer from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.

Comrades Rebecca and Christopher were disqualified after it was confirmed that NUIKAS was not operational in their institutions—Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo State. Both are members of NUOLGS, an indigenous association, and their nomination forms lacked endorsement by a NUIKAS chapter president.

The Electoral Committee announced the following elected officers: President: Busayo Michael; Vice President: Olomololaye Benjamin; General Secretary: Adekanhunsi Kehinde; Financial Secretary: Akindasa Oluwasegun; Treasurer: Ajibawo Seyi; Sport Director: Akarigbo Gbenga. In the Legislative Arm, the Senate President is Akinnuoye Ayomide, with Akinfe Michael as Deputy Senate President, Oyekanmi Ayomide as Clerk, and Adenayo Sunday as Chief Whip.

In its statement, the Electoral Committee congratulated all the elected officers, urging them to prioritize accountability, dedication, and service to the union. The Committee also commended all aspirants and stakeholders for their contributions to the success of the election.

With this peaceful and transparent process, the NUIKAS union has set a standard for leadership and governance, reinforcing its commitment to democratic values and the advancement of its members.
