Prince Kenny Adekanmi, popularly known as Kenny Kunma, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 House of Representatives election for the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Adekanmi announced his decision in a statement on Saturday, saying he was persuaded to join the race following consultations with political stakeholders, socio cultural groups and residents across the constituency.
According to him, the decision was reached after prayers, personal reflection and extensive consultations on the need to provide effective representation for the people of Okitipupa and Irele.
He said, “After fervent prayers, deep reflections and wide consultation with the various socio cultural and political influence groups within our communities, I have come to the conclusion that yielding to these calls is a patriotic duty to better the lives of our people and grow our communities.”
The politician said he had accepted what he described as the call by the people to represent the federal constituency in the Green Chamber, expressing confidence that he would deliver transformative and people centred representation if elected.
Adekanmi also announced that he had emerged as the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress for the constituency, noting that the choice of the party followed what he described as rigorous consultations undertaken in the interest of the people.
He appreciated the leadership and members of the NDC, as well as his supporters, for their confidence in his vision.
The House of Representatives hopeful urged residents of the constituency to look beyond political affiliations and support candidates committed to addressing the developmental needs of the area.
He said the constituency deserved a representative who would prioritise the welfare of the people and reposition the constituency office as a platform for sustainable growth and development.
Adekanmi appealed to the electorate for prayers and support as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
