ODSG Begins Dualization Of Oda Road

In continuation of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu  SAN commitment to make Ondo State roads complied with world approved standards, the ever busy Oda  road has been  slated for dualization

Speaking on this development,  the commissioner for Works and infrastructure Hon Saka Yusuf Ogunleye said the government was deeply worried about the deplorable state of the road and the hardship being experienced by commuters plying the road and residents of the area

The commissioner was speaking at the palace of Olojoda of Oda, where he  briefed the Regent oba Abike Akosile on the need  for the residents to cooperate with government and the contractor to ensure timely completion of the project

According to him,  there were hundreds of requests from people who wanted government to attend to their roads,  but the Governor has in his magnanimity approved dualization of Oda road among others. that are receiving attention in the state

The commissioner said the process of demolishing shanties and other illegal structures has began  with marking of the structures for demolition by the state ministry of physical planning and urban development

Hon .Ogunleye  who said the chunks of Ondo State Civil servants reside in the area called for sacrifice from all who have shops,  kiosks , containers on the road  sides  to remove them  to allow the Contractors commence work.

The Commissioner said  the government of Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN  would not play politics with the  life of the people noting that the Governor is a promise keeper and would not abandon any road project under construction

Responding the Regent,  Oba Abike Akosile thanked the Governor for his intervention on some critically failed roads in the state among which Oda road is one

Oba Akosile said  the incessant traffic congestion being experienced on the
road was as result of rapid expansion of the town as well as other  communities in the axis like  Ijigba,  Aaye, Ilekun  etc which are also expanding daily.

The Regent said the town had for long made provision for dualization because there were enough setbacks from the major road to the residential buildings

She promised the cooperation of the residents of the town with  the Contractors while the project lasted noting that Oda community would remain grateful to Governor Akeredolu for the good gesture.

Also speaking a community leader in the area Mr Oluwole Ige said  Oda town was a source of Internally Generated Revenue to the state  since the establishment of  Cocoa Board by the late sage Chief  Obafeni Awolowo in 1954.

He therefore thanked Governor Akeredolu for his plan to decongest the the only road leading to the town from Akure through dualization

  • Ikale Communities Accuse Akeredolu of Bias; Petitions IGP

Ikale Communities Accuse Akeredolu of Bias; Petitions IGP

The Ikale speaking areas of Ago Alaye, Agirifon and Basola in Odigbo Local Government of Ondo State have petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
The Nation reports that in a petition by their lawyer, Olusanmi Tobase, they alleged bias in the handling of a communal clash with the neighbouring Araromi Obu, who had been trespassing into their land.
According to a copy of the petition received at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on July 25th and made available to journalists, trouble started on July 16 when a group of Ikale young men and their tenants were on their way to hunt and farm on their land located along the road to Araromi Obu.
The petition said: “While on their way, they were ambushed by some Araromi Obu boys who were armed with all manners of guns including sophisticated ones, matchet and axes. On the road, they halted our clients and requested for their mission and our clients asked them of the basis for the questions. The response was a volley of gunshots on our clients.
“In the ensued melee, our clients were forced to defend themselves even as they fled but it was not without serious and life threatening injuries to them. In the process, the Araromi Obu boys deployed a sharp object on one of our clients and ripped open his bowels.”
The petitioners stated that it was not the first time the people would be attacked on their land which was duly awarded to them via a court judgment.
They alleged that their people, who were victims of the unprovoked attack, had been placed under 24 hours curfew by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, hounded all over and dumped in prison while Araromi Obu where the aggression originated had been given a field day, so much that Ikale citizens resident there had been forced to flee for their lives.
They stated that an earlier petition sent to the Commissioner of Police in the state had not been acted upon.
The petition added: “It is to redress this one sided and extremely oppressive investigation that we write to you to save our clients souls.
“It has become a pattern that when our clients are attacked, it is covered up by powerful forces but every time our clients act in self defence or exercise a given right against Araromi Obu people, all hells are let loose.
“Without hearing our clients side of the story, the governor placed our clients’ community of Ago Alaye under 24 hours curfew after visiting Araromi Obu. As soon as the governor left, Araromi Obu boys resumed their acts of violence against the Ikale using the MOPOL.
“While the Araromi Obu enjoy the license, our Ikale clients are being hounded and detailed on the charge of murder of Araromi Obu boys who allegedly died in the attack they launched on our clients.
“We have our client’s instruction to place the above facts before your esteemed office for impartial consideration and necessary actions as nothing generates peace like justice. It is difficult to keep repressing a people and getting them to keep quiet.”

  • Soldiers in Aba brutalise people with dreadlocks and colour dye before taking them to unknown destination

Soldiers in Aba brutalise people with dreadlocks and colour dye before taking them to unknown destination

    Credits: Naijapals.com

In yet another example of disregard for basic Human Rights, soldiers
of the Nigerian Army are reported to have swooped on residents in the
commercial hub of Aba to shave off the hair of young men with dreadlocks
and colour dye before taking them to unknown destination.

Some residents, who witnessed the incident, said they
were afraid that another season of Operation Python Dance might have
    commenced in the state.

    An
eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, said the soldiers visited major
streets in the city dehumanising young men and taking them to an unknown
    destination without any explanation.
The eyewitness stated, “Their targets were young men, who wore dreadlocks and those who tinted their hair.
    “The
masked soldiers flogged many of their victims and used scissors to cut
off the hair and then threw the victims into their vehicles and zoomed
    off.
“It was a very sorry sight. We were all afraid to get close.
    “The
soldiers came unannounced and started arresting, flogging, maltreating
and cutting the hair of any young person sporting dreadlocks as well as
    long and tinted hair.
“We have never seen such wickedness before and nobody has ever told us that wearing of dreadlocks is an offence.
    “All of
a sudden, the soldiers came to the Ehi Road and did all manners of evil
to people sporting dreadlocks before my very eyes.”
    Another
resident, who identified herself simply as Mrs Mba said: “I went to the
market to buy something and suddenly, I saw people standing afar but
moving closer, I saw some young men sitting on the floor and being
    shaved by soldiers.
“Honestly, the people around were afraid to ask any question, because no one knew actually what crime the victims had committed.
“After shaving the boys, the soldiers eventually bundled them into their vehicle, packed the hair and drove off.”
    When
contacted, the acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 14
Brigade, Ohafia, Major Aliu Kadiri, confirmed the incident.
He said the Nigerian Army headquarters were aware of the matter.
He added, “If there is a new special operation going on in Aba, I will find out from the commanding officer and confirm.

“We are on the issue of the haircut. Our headquarters have called us on it; we are handling the matter.”

  • Saraki Is Nigeria’s Smartest Politician – Oshiomhole

Saraki Is Nigeria’s Smartest Politician – Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), AdamsOshiomhole, has described former Senate President Bukola Saraki, as the smartest political player in Nigeria.

The former Edo State governor, however, insisted that he showed more smartness in orchestrating Saraki’s defeat.

Oshiomhole made this known while speaking to State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Monday.

“Remember I was saying that Saraki must be removed, people would say how would I do it? I said okay if he resists qremoval then we would uproot,” he said.

“We went to Kwara, we did Otoge, we uprooted Saraki and you cannot commend me for this? Do you know who Saraki is? If you are talking of the most smartest political player, seasoned smart guy, he is. But for every smartness he has, I have a superior smartness. At the end of the day who won?

“As a senate president, we uprooted him as a senator, we uprooted his nominee for governor and senators, we put our own. Today, he doesn’t have one senator in Kwara, he doesn’t have one House of Representatives in Kwara. Everything in Kwara is APC and you can’t commend me for that?

“If you don’t, then I will be like the lizard, I will praise myself if you state house correspondents don’t praise me.”

  • Ex- NBA VICE PRESIDENT PLOTS MEDIA WAR ON A’IBOM REC

Ex- NBA VICE PRESIDENT PLOTS MEDIA WAR ON A’IBOM REC

Former Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Monday Ubani has been fingered as the ring leader in the current smear campaign plot against Barr.Mike Igini, the Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner.

One of such is an alleged doctored audio tape between one Dr. William and a female  supposedly to taint and scandalize  the reputation of the electoral commissioner after failed attempts to relocate the tribunal sitting to Abuja were they boasted that they are in control of  judges who can be given order and  skew  judgements of  the National Assembly Tribunal sitting in Uyo to Senator Akpabio’s favour .

A very reliable source in their team  who spoke in confidence, stated clearly that, Senator Akpabio, sensing an imminent defeat at the  Election Tribunal due to his inability to defend his alleged victory at the poll, accepted an offer from and  recruited the crude services of the ex Ikeja branch Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association.

Rather than remain an advocate of Justice, he is said to have encouraged and advised that the self indicting doctored audio clips which  Akpabio was afraid to tender before closing his case at the tribunal, should be put on the social media with  false and spurious written claims.

Their intention was to create an impression with the manipulated audio, that Igini instructed the returning officer to cancel Akpabio’s votes in Essien Udim; a false narrative that the witness himself denied in the tribunal and was widely reported by national dailies.

Another aspect of his involvement was his claim that he was close to certain judges who could help influence the judgement in favour of Akpabio.

“Ubani, a Lagos based lawyer and supposed human rights activist, surprisingly accepted the mouth watering pay for this,  and now works undercover, hand-in- hand with Akpabio as a member of his legal team which he cannot deny  and other publicly identified corrupt people to smear people like Mike Igini,” the source added.

It could be recalled that Ubani, who has been on the wrong side of the news lately and deservedly so given his new found attraction to and full embrace of people associated with monumental corruption with the sole material drive for money, was detained on March 19, 2019, by EFCC and kept in their custody for thirty (30) whole  days  for standing sureties for Ngozi Olejeme, who once served as Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund between 2009 and 2015.

“A lawyer standing surtie  for his client? Even though I am not a lawyer but is it proper for a lawyer to do that for a client who can run away or jump bail?

“What many Nigerians whom this impostor who claimed to be an activist did not know and, were just castigating EFCC was shocking findings amongst which are, Deed of transfer  documents that this man called Ubani transferred properties that are subject of investigation to himself and hide them from EFCC on behalf of the fugitive  Mrs. Olejeme” -confirmed a source.

It took the intervention of so many people to secure him bail that he is temporarily enjoying at the moment.

Our source further explained that “Akpabio whom we know has pending issues with EFCC can only be seen parading with and recruiting persons of Ugbani’s pedigree who are swimming in EFCC net.

“Luckily for him, he found Ubani who’s records are already soiled like his.

He was heard telling some people in Akpabio’s camp that “after Igini had signed on the original result figure in favour of  Akpabio, that he Igini later  changed it”

“Does Ubani  really  understands the process ? If he does  probably he would have known that lgini has no power to sign any result nor instruct anyone to cancel votes except reminding all poll officials to abide by the rules and regulations that govern the election process from opening of polling, accreditation, voting and collation.”

Our source further hinted  that his sudden involvement in the legal team did not go down well with  some of them who are uncomfortable with him.

He has  boasted and assured Akpabio how the written address they are working on will give victory to Akpabio and then disgrace lgini.

“Akpabio is ready to do anything, I mean anything to win the tribunal and has recruited the services of Ubani to tarnish Igini’s image and I can tell you confidently that Akpabio has released heavy amounts of money to reach a compromise with Ubani who boasted of his close relationship with some judges in Abuja who will intervene as he claimed the same way they did for Uche Ogar that led to the nullification of Governor  lkpeazu’s victory initially in Abia state.”

Our source suggested to Nigerians to Google Uche Ogar and the subsidy scam and that they can then understand why  Ubani is a fake bread and butter activist like many still out there deceiving Nigerians.

It could also be recalled that Akpabio’s hatred for Igini led to his open demand for the REC to be removed and transferred from Akwa Ibom State during the electioneering period when he knew that with Igini it won’t be  game as usual  of pre-writing of election results .

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Saturday, closed its defense in the petition by Chief Godswill Akpabio challenging the election of Senator Chris Ekpenyong for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.

August 1st and 5th have been announced for filing of Written Address by Respondents and Petitioners respectively and August 8, 2019 for filing of Reply on Point of Law.

The Tribunal will sit on August 8, 2019 for adoption of Written Address.

  • PDP Urges Senate To Submit Ministerial List To EFCC

PDP Urges Senate To Submit Ministerial List To EFCC

    …Says Buhari Promotes, Endorses Corruption

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) urges the Senate to further give credibility to its ministerial screening by sending the names of the nominees to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The party says the screening exercise must have enabled the Senate to further confirm that many of the nominees presented to it by President Muhammadu Buhari include individuals, who as former governors and ministers, wrecked their states and ministries and have serious allegations of corruption, abuse of office and stealing of public funds hanging on their necks.

Furthermore, the PDP notes that the nomination of persons with corruption badges to serve in the federal cabinet has overtly established the fact that President Buhari not only condones but also explicitly promotes corruption, which has escalated into a state art since he assumed office in 2015.

This is particularly as President Buhari had asserted that he would only nominate persons he knows “personally”.

It therefore speaks volumes that the persons Mr. President “personally” knows and has nominated as ministers include such individuals that have been publicly indicted and known to be answering questions as accomplices in on-going corruption cases in various courts.

The PDP calls on the Senate to note that some of the nominees have failed to defend their corruption allegations. This includes a particular former minister from the North Central, who had admitted to the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) of complicity in the N2.5 billion National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) fraud case, still pending in court.

This is in addition to certain nominees who, as state governors, swindled their states, fleeced workers and committed several financial crimes for which they should rather be standing trial, instead of being rewarded with official protection as ministers.

Our party notes that the gathering of corrupt persons as cabinet ministers is a clear pointer to a scheme by the cabal in the Presidency to further entrench corruption in our nation.

Urging the Senate to take a cursory look into the allegations of bribe-for-ministerial-slot, making the rounds in the public space, the PDP said the Senate must rise to the occasion and ensure that Nigerians are not totally let down.

The PDP also invites the Senate to note that President Buhari has not demonstrated any commitment to the fight against corruption and for that reason, Nigerians now look up to the National Assembly to protect the nation from the excesses of the Buhari Presidency.

The repositioned PDP has demonstrated this determination in our nominations for leadership positions in our party at all levels.

The Senate is therefore urged to stand with the people in resisting the manipulations of the Buhari Presidency to ensure that only persons with clean records are cleared as ministers.
