Beckham enjoys kickabout with his three sons in Man Utd shirts

David Beckham rolled back the years as he pulled on his football boots to play alongside his three sons at Loftus Road on Friday.

Beckham, alongside sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, was pictured at the ground of Queen’s Park Rangers wearing Manchester United new home shirt, inspired by the 1999 Treble-winning team he was part of.

But eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed that 16-year-old son Romeo defied the United narrative as he took to the pitch in a pair of Arsenal shorts, showing his commitment to the north London outfit.
The home kit the Beckham family played in pays homage to the Treble-winners from the 1998-99 campaign.

  • Frank Commends U.S. firm, Facebook for exposing Buhari’s political consultant in Isreal

Frank Commends U.S. firm, Facebook for exposing Buhari’s political consultant in Isreal

A political activist and former Deputy National Publicuty Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has commended a report released by a U.S.-based firm, Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab, for exposing an Isreali-based political consulting and lobbying firm named Archimedes, who has been coordinating false reports on social media against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

According to a news report published on Friday by Associated Press (AP), titled: “Isreali disinformation campaign targeted Nigerian election”, Frank said that Facebook had on Thursday banned Archimedes from the platform over its “coordinated and deceptive behavior” as well as conducted a sweeping takedown of dozens of accounts and hundreds of pages primarily aimed at disrupting elections in African countries, with some scattered activity in Southeast Asia and Latin America.

The report specifically revealed that the Isreali-based firm (Archimedes) worked for President Muhammadu Buhari to smear his leading opponent, Atiku  Abubakar during the last general elections.

Reacting to the development through a statement on Saturday, Frank said that the world will gradually know all the evil secret behind the declaration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the last presidential election.

According to Frank, one of the pages that Facebook deleted on Thursday was filled with viral misinformation and direct attacks against Abubakar, the former vice president of Nigeria. The page’s banner image showed Abubakar as Darth Vader, the Star Wars villain, holding up a sign reading, “Make Nigeria Worse Again.”

He also quoted the AP’s report “that on the overall, the misleading accounts had reached some 2.8 million users, and the pages had engaged over 5,000 followers, according to Facebook’s estimates.”

While thanking Facebook for bringing down the fake accounts, Frank said that “Nigerians ought to be worried about how the APC-led government is spending huge amount of money just to discredit the rightful winner of the 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar.

“I believe that if a lie goes on for 20 years, truth will definitely catchup with it one day. It will not be long before Nigerians will realise how desperate and fake President Muhammadu Buhari is in his bid to hang onto power.”

The political activist called on the international community to note the Associated Press’ report and the extent of damage done to the main opposition party in Nigeria and its Presidential candidate during the last general election.

“The AP’s report has clearly shown the level of lies sponsored against Atiku during and after the last general election. The campaign of calumny has not stopped but Nigerians should henceforth disregard  malicious reports in the social media against the former VP,” Frank stated

I Won’t Use Edo Money To Satisfy Politicians – Obaseki

The Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, has hit hard on some politicians in the state who he said were trying to blackmail him because of his refusal to share public fund to them.

Mr Obaseki will be seeking re-election next year under his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Edo money is meant for the development of the state, and not for “a handful of greedy individuals,” a statement from the Government House, Benin City, quoted Mr Obaseki as saying on Wednesday at a training programme in Bennin City for teachers in the state.

“We do not have all the money in Edo but whatever we have – no matter how little – we will prioritise education and healthcare.

“What is important to us are things that affect ordinary Edo people. Those are the things the APC and I stand for,” Mr Obaseki.

Mr Obaseki promised to set up laboratories and other facilities in the College of Education, Abudu, for the training of primary school teachers.

“The college in Igueben will train secondary school and technical education teachers, while the one in Afuze will train teachers for physical education and children with special needs,” the governor told the teachers.

He added that the digital teaching and learning process deployed in public primary schools would be replicated in private primary schools across the state to ensure that no child is left behind.

Mr Obaseki asked the people of the state to ignore politicians who take to social media to attack him and his administration.

The All Progressives Congress has accused the Peoples Democratic Party of being insensitive and playing desperate politics with the blood of soldiers killed in the Melete attacks.
    The
ruling party also said the allegations by the opposition PDP that
military funds had been diverted to finance its 2019 election campaigns
was a sad reminder of the evil and retrogressive practices the PDP was
    notorious for during its reign.
It stated these in a press statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, on Tuesday in Abuja.

    The
statement read, “God forbid that the APC inherits and apply such morbid
practice as brazenly displayed during the immediate-past PDP
administration where funds allocated to fight the Boko Haram insurgency
in the Northeast were shared among PDP leaders and their cronies.
    “It
is clear that the PDP and its Presidential candidate, Alh. Atiku
Abubakar, have decided to dance on the graves of our valiant and
patriotic soldiers by politicising their deaths in the recent Boko Haram
attack on the Nigerian Army Metele base.

    “The
PDP and Atiku are playing desperate politics where even the blood of
our fallen heroes is fair game. Their actions are callous and
insensitive to the families and dependants of the late soldiers and
indeed our military which battles daily to ensure our territorial
    integrity.”

    APC
said the insensitive nature of the PDP to national issues in order to
always score cheap political points would backfire for the opposition
    during the election.

    The
statement added, “Nigerians see through PDP’s ploy to score political
points as elections approach and it will surely backfire.
    “While
the APC mourns the death of our military and other security personnel
who have lost their lives in the line of duty, we urge them (soldiers)
to remain focussed on the brave task of securing the nation.

    “The
President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration remains solidly
committed to bringing lasting peace and security to all parts of the
country and ensuring that previously displaced persons are rehabilitated
to resume their normal and productive lives.”

  • I have not left APC – Okorocha

I have not left APC – Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said that he is still in
the All Progressives Congress, adding that his support for the success
of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election is incontestable and
    unshakable.

Okorocha, who spoke on Tuesday at the Government House, Owerri,
during a media parley, also added that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, remained the
best candidate for the election in the state.

“He is visionary, dutiful, hardworking and a proactive young man. He
remains the best among all the candidates for the governorship election
    in the state.”

Okorocha, however, contended that he was still in the APC having been one of the founding fathers of the party in the country.

“I cannot be part of destroying the mansion I have helped in
building. I totally support the APC and all of its candidates for the
    2019 general elections.”

He further described what played out in the APC in the recent past on
who emerges as its Imo State governorship candidate as a political
    injustice.

Stating that the choice of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the
state governorship candidate for the 2019 election was not the choice of
the party faithful. He regretted that the APC which was known for
uprightness and justice had lost its integrity and purposeful bearing.

He further said that he was not embattled in any form but that the fight against him was because of his political sagacity.

The governor blamed the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams
Oshiomhole, who he described as a simpleton, having been deceived by
some disgruntled members of the party.

“I still have my numerous supporters with me, but those who are naïve
who want to leave and have left, I wish them good luck. This is because I
    cannot stop them.”

Meanwhile, Okorocha had disclosed that he has the APC ticket for Imo
West (Orlu) Senatorial District election, just as he added that he would
coast to victory in the election.

  • President Buhari cancels ‘casual leave’

    President Buhari cancels ‘casual leave’

President Muhammadu Buhari has cancelled his planned five-day “casual
leave’’ as a mark of respect for victims of Boko Haram attacks across
the battlefields in the Northeast zone of the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the President had
planned to spend the casual leave at his home country, Daura, Katsina
State from November 27 to December 2.

The president, according to NAN, had earlier cancelled his
official trip to Benin City, Edo, where he was initially billed to
inaugurate the Edo-Azura Power Plant and grace the Chief of Army Staff
    Annual Conference.

NAN reports that already the advanced teams of the president,
who left Abuja for Katsina and Benin on Sunday, had been asked to
    return.

NAN gathered that the cancellation of the trips would also
enable the president to continue his ongoing meetings and consultations
with relevant security and intelligence community aimed at addressing
    the nation’s security challenges.

However, the president is expected to declare open the Chief of Army
Staff Annual Conference, which was moved from Benin City to Maiduguri,
Borno, on November 28 at the Government House Conference Hall.

President Buhari’s aide on New Media, Alhaji Bashir Ahmad, had on Sunday confirmed this development on his Twitter handle.

He said: “President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to declare the COAS
Annual Conference on November 28, 2018 at the Conference Hall CGH in
    Maiduguri, Borno state.

“The conference was earlier scheduled to take place from 26 -28 November 2018 in Benin, Edo state.

NAN also gathered that the shifting of the Chief of Army
Staff Annual Conference from Benin City to Maiduguri might not be
unconnected with the killing of Nigerian soldiers at Metele, a remote
    village bordering Nigeria and Chad.

NAN learnt that President Buhari would use the opportunity
of the COAS conference to address the Nigerian soldiers at the
battlefields to further boost their morale.

Dele Momodu, Ben Bruce, others react to viral video of Boko Haram killing Nigerian soldiers

Nigerians on social media continue to discuss the recent massacre of Nigerian soldiers in Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists.

The Nigerian Army while addressing the incident a few hours ago said,
‘it is important for the public to note that the NA has laid down
procedures for reporting incidents that involve its personnel who fall
casualty in action. Out of respect for the families of our gallant
troops, the NOKs are first notified before any form of public
information so as to avoid exacerbating the grief family members would
bear, were they to discover such from unofficial sources’.

Below is how Nigerians on social media and the opposition party is reacting to it.
