Rising from emergency Congress of Joint Action Of Non Academic staff Union(NASU),Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and National Association of Academic Technologist(NAAT) has vowed to shut the University down over plan to retire their members against the normal retirement age of the Universities miscellaneous act.
The Congress noted that the Council under Prof Akere had adopted the Universities miscellaneous act and sustained by Dr Akingba led council as allowed by subsidiary power of Universities Governing Council.
The Congress vowed to use all legitimate means to resist the obnoxious letter emanating from different quarters from government.
Speaking with one of the staff of the University who preffered to be anonymous,he said it is going to be war for war.
He said, “I’m not a union leader here but we will resist this satanic attempt with all we have.
There some elements within this Akeredolu led government that are sabotaging the good intention of the Governor particularly in education sector and they will be exposed soon.
I can tell you that some of them are out to pull this government down despite the fact they are in Government.”
Newsmen gathered that about 15 staff of the university are above the old retirement age including the Vice Chancellor,Prof Sunday Ogunduyile.
