Portugal’s draw against DR Congo has sparked a huge fan controversy online.
Many Ronaldo supporters flooded Bruno Fernandes’ Instagram comments, accusing him of not passing enough to Ronaldo and failing to create chances for him during the match.
The backlash then spread to João Neves despite him scoring Portugal’s only goal and winning Man of the Match. Fans also targeted Neves’ girlfriend, Madalena Aragão, filling her comment section with messages about Ronaldo and criticism of Neves.
Reports claim Bruno Fernandes, João Neves, Vitinha and Pedro Neto all received thousands of comments demanding they show more respect to Ronaldo and pass to him more often.
The drama intensified after Ronaldo’s sister, Katia Aveiro, reportedly liked a post criticizing Bruno Fernandes, which many fans saw as adding fuel to the fire.
As of now, neither Ronaldo nor Bruno Fernandes has publicly addressed the situation. Most reactions online have condemned the abuse directed at the players and especially at Madalena Aragão, who had no involvement in the match
