Residents of Ayede community at Imafon area of Akure, were thrown into mourning on sunday evening after suspected bandits reportedly attacked the area, killing a man and abducting two people, including his pregnant wife.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 8 p.m, the armed assailants invaded the community and attempted to abduct a pregnant woman. In a desperate effort to save his wife, her husband reportedly pleaded with the kidnappers to take him instead, citing her condition.
However, the attackers allegedly shot and killed the man before whisking away his pregnant wife. A neighbor was also abducted during the attack.
According to reports, the kidnappers have since contacted the families of the victims and are demanding a ransom of N30 million for their release.
One Phagbemi Seun Triumph shared on Facebook “Kidnapping is real oh, my uncle was kidnapped in his own house at Imafon Akure North yesterday night, around 8pm.
His neighbor was killed and took his wife and my uncle away.
They called us this evening that we should bring 30M per person latest tomorrow.
A woman that saw them, said they are Fulani men that have cows in their community (Imafon).
The state security should kindly assist”
