The Olofun of Irele Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Ọba Samuel Omapariola Odimayo, Olowomuwagun III, has established the Malokun Vigilante Volunteers Group as part of efforts to strengthen security and safeguard lives and property across the kingdom.
The traditional ruler said the initiative underscores his commitment to the safety and welfare of the people amid growing security concerns in the country.
More than 50 volunteers have already commenced intensive training and are expected to be deployed upon completion to provide security coverage across Ode Irele and other towns and villages within Irele Kingdom.
Speaking on the initiative, the monarch said the vigilante group would work in collaboration with existing government security agencies rather than replace them, stressing that community participation remains critical to tackling insecurity.
According to him, security is a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of all residents. He therefore urged members of the public to support the volunteers and other security agencies by remaining vigilant and volunteering credible information that could help prevent crime and maintain law and order.
The Olofun expressed confidence that the Malokun Vigilante Volunteers Group would enhance the security architecture of Irele Kingdom, strengthen public confidence, and create a more peaceful environment for socio-economic development.
Residents have described the initiative as a timely intervention, noting that community-based security efforts, when properly coordinated with law enforcement agencies, can play a vital role in protecting lives and property.
The establishment of the Malokun Vigilante Volunteers Group is widely seen as another demonstration of the Olofun’s commitment to promoting peace, security, and sustainable development throughout Irele Kingdom.
