The Gombe State PDP Youth Circle has declared Hon. Ahmed Yayari as the authentic governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 election in the state, dismissing contrary claims as misleading.
The group, in a statement issued on Friday by its Chairman, Umar Adamu, popularly known as Umar Abu Abdullah, said Yayari remains the only lawful and duly recognised gubernatorial candidate of the party.
According to the statement, the clarification became necessary following what it described as attempts by certain individuals and factions to create confusion within the PDP through conflicting claims over the party’s governorship ticket.
The Youth Circle maintained that Yayari’s emergence as the party’s flagbearer followed due process and was backed by the legally recognised national leadership of the PDP in line with existing judicial pronouncements.
It also claimed that the Certificate of Return issued to Yayari remains valid and binding, insisting that legitimacy within the party is determined by adherence to due process, the party’s constitution and the rule of law, rather than what it described as propaganda or media campaigns.
The group described Yayari as a loyal party member, experienced administrator and committed stakeholder who has contributed significantly to the growth of the PDP at both the state and national levels.
It called on party members, supporters and residents of Gombe State to disregard what it termed misleading narratives and rally behind Yayari ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The Youth Circle also urged all stakeholders within the PDP to embrace unity, discipline and respect for constituted authority to position the party for victory in the next governorship poll.
