Mimiko Condoles Odunmbaku Family

Former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has commiserated with the Odunmbaku family over the death of Mrs. Olasinmi Akindele-Odunmbaku, who was laid to rest in Lagos on Friday.

In a tribute, Mimiko prayed that God would grant “her children, Olakunle and Fifehanmi, and the entire Odunmbaku family, especially her husband, Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku, MFR, the strength to bear this painful loss.”

He added that he, his wife, and “our immediate, extended and political families join the Odunmbaku family in mourning the passing of the departed former Commissioner for Women Affairs in Ondo State.”

Describing the late Akindele-Odunmbaku as more than a political associate, Mimiko said: “Sinmi was much more than a member of our political family. Over the years, she became a cherished friend and sister whose place in our lives was as deep as that of any blood relation.”

While noting that her death was deeply saddening, he said her life of purpose and impact deserved celebration.

“Olasinmi Akindele-Odunmbaku will be remembered for her infectious enthusiasm, resourcefulness, boundless energy, and unwavering commitment to every cause she embraced. Whatever assignment she undertook, she pursued with clarity, diligence and uncommon dedication,” he said.

Recalling her years of public service, Mimiko said the late daughter of Akunnu Akoko in Ondo State served as Commissioner for Women Affairs with exceptional passion, mobilising women for social and economic advancement while promoting fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity.

He cited the Gbebiro initiative, championed by the First Lady in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, as one of the programmes through which she helped inspire and empower countless women towards personal growth and community development.

Mimiko, under whose administration the deceased served, also described her as “a devoted wife and loving mother” who, despite the demands of public office, “never allowed her commitment to duty to overshadow her commitment to family, carrying both responsibilities with admirable grace.”

The former governor prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late Mrs. Olasinmi Akindele-Odunmbaku.
