The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Princess Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, on Tuesday intensified her consultations with party stakeholders as she sought the support of the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) for her House of Representatives bid.
Speaking during a strategic meeting with leaders, coordinators and members of the group at the AMG National Secretariat in Akure, the APC flag bearer pledged to provide inclusive and effective representation if elected, promising to prioritise youth and women empowerment, community development and regular engagement with constituents.
She described grassroots mobilisation as the foundation of electoral success, stressing that meaningful representation could only be achieved through continuous interaction with the people.
Olatunji-Ohwovoriole urged members of the support group to rally behind her aspiration, noting that the forthcoming election presents Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency with what she described as a historic opportunity to elect a woman to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives after 27 years.
She also called for greater unity among various APC support groups across the state, saying that regardless of their different platforms, they all belong to one political family working towards the success of the party.
According to her, the APC remains committed to delivering overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, urging party faithful to intensify mobilisation efforts across the grassroots.
The APC candidate commended the Asiwaju Mandate Group for its community development initiatives and grassroots mobilisation efforts across the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State, expressing confidence that the goodwill generated by the organisation would translate into electoral victories for the party.
She paid glowing tribute to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, describing him as “the pride of Ondo State” whose leadership and commitment to human capital development have continued to impact lives positively.
Recounting her political experience during the Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency bye-election conducted following the death of the late Hon. Isaac Adedayo Omolafe, Olatunji-Ohwovoriole disclosed that Tunji-Ojo provided her with financial and moral support at a critical period.
According to her, the Minister’s intervention reflected his commitment to building people and strengthening the progressive family, adding that her admiration for him is rooted in gratitude and conviction.
Earlier, the Director General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, described the APC candidate as a committed progressive with the experience, capacity and leadership qualities required to provide quality representation for the people of Akure North and Akure South Federal Constituency.
He assured her of the group’s support, reaffirming AMG’s commitment to the ideals of the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Asagunla explained that the group was established in March 2024 with the objective of mobilising grassroots support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, adding that it was initiated by the Minister of Interior to strengthen the APC through grassroots mobilisation, community development and the expansion of the party’s support base.
He said the organisation has continued to complement government efforts through various community-based interventions, including the rehabilitation of public infrastructure, installation of transformers and solar-powered street lights, construction of bridges and other developmental projects in communities such as Igoba, Aule and Oke Aro.
He expressed confidence in Olatunji-Ohwovoriole’s chances at the polls and assured her of the group’s full mobilisation across Akure North and Akure South ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting ended with members of the group reaffirming their commitment to mobilising support for the APC candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and the party’s overall success in the forthcoming general elections.
