The Ondo State Competition and Consumer Protection Agency (ODCCPA) has commenced the mandatory registration of all businesses operating in the state, directing business owners to obtain their official registration identification and certificate.
The Executive Chairman of the agency, Oluyemi Fasipe, who announced the exercise in a public notice, said the registration was free and compulsory for all businesses operating within Ondo State.
Fasipe said the agency had provided a one-month grace period from the date of the announcement to enable business owners to complete the registration process and obtain their official ODCCPA Registration ID and Certificate.
He warned that the agency would commence enforcement of compliance at the expiration of the grace period, adding that businesses that failed to register could be subjected to sanctions and applicable fines in accordance with the law.
The statement urged business owners across the state to take advantage of the grace period and regularise their businesses before the commencement of enforcement.
According to the agency, the registration process has been designed to be simple and can be completed online without visiting any physical office.
Business owners are therefore advised to register through the agency’s official website at www.occpa.on.gov.ng or directly access the business registration portal at www.occpa.on.gov.ng/register-business.
Fasipe urged all businesses operating in Ondo State to comply with the directive within the stipulated period, stressing that the registration was intended to ensure compliance and strengthen consumer protection and business regulation across the state.
The agency reiterated that the registration is FREE and COMPULSORY, urging business owners not to wait until the commencement of enforcement before completing the process.
