Akingbaso Congratulates Aroloye, Calls for Unity Ahead of Coronation as Owa of Idanre

The member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso, has congratulated Prince Mayowa Aroloye on his emergence as the 27th Owa of Idanre Kingdom-elect, describing the selection process as peaceful, transparent and commendable.

Akingbaso, in a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, said the orderly conduct of the exercise reflected the maturity of Idanre Kingdom and offered hope for a peaceful and prosperous reign.

He said, “The transparent, open and peaceful process that ushered in the Owa-elect is highly commendable. The orderliness that characterized the selection exercise from beginning to end is a testament to the maturity of Idanre Kingdom, and we are confident that it heralds a peaceful and prosperous reign.”

The federal lawmaker urged all stakeholders to close ranks behind the incoming monarch, stressing that the selection process should mark the beginning of reconciliation and collective commitment to the development of the kingdom.

According to him, “The Idanre culture and tradition is deep, fair, organized and noble. It does not encourage retribution after selection; rather, it demands seamless integration of all parties, as the ultimate goal remains the development of our land. All hands must therefore be on deck to achieve this.”

Akingbaso commended the Ondo State Government, traditional institutions, the heirs to the throne, kingmakers and other stakeholders for their contributions to the peaceful selection exercise.

He also paid tribute to the late Lisa of Idanre, High Chief Oluwole Christopher Akindolire, who died during the process, saying his contributions to the kingdom would remain memorable.

The lawmaker equally praised the other prospective heirs who contested for the revered stool, particularly for their sportsmanship and peaceful conduct during and after the selection process.

He expressed confidence that reconciliation among the contenders and their supporters would be achieved, declaring that “Idanre is one indivisible family.”

On the economic implications of the development, Akingbaso expressed optimism that market women and other traders would soon return to their former places of business, bringing relief to those affected by the traditional transition.

He wished the Owa-elect successful completion of the traditional rites and a productive, development-driven reign on the throne of his forebears.

Akingbaso is the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation.
