NANS Secures Scholarships, Jobs, Mobility Support from Tantita MD Kestin Pondi
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has secured commitments for local and international scholarships, employment opportunities, and mobility support for student leaders following a strategic engagement with the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi.
The breakthrough was achieved during a high-level meeting between the NANS leadership, led by its President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, and the management of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.Speaking during the engagement, Akinteye described Nigerian students as critical stakeholders in nation-building and stressed the need for greater investment in their welfare, education, and development.
He commended Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for its role in safeguarding Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure through advanced surveillance operations, intelligence support, and asset protection services across the Niger Delta region. The NANS President also threw the association’s weight behind the company amid calls in some quarters for the Federal Government to terminate its contract, insisting that the firm’s contributions to national security and economic stability should be acknowledged.
According to him, Tantita has distinguished itself through its efforts in curbing crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal bunkering, while also creating jobs and empowering youths in host communities.Akinteye appealed to the company’s management to expand its scholarship programmes to accommodate more Nigerian students through both local and international schemes. He also requested employment opportunities for graduates and students as part of efforts to enhance youth development and economic empowerment.
Responding, Pondi lauded the leadership of NANS and reaffirmed Tantita’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote national development and youth advancement.
He noted that the company has played a pivotal role in protecting Nigeria’s critical oil and gas assets through intelligence-led operations and community-based security engagements, leading to increased crude oil production and improved operational efficiency across key facilities.
The Tantita boss further highlighted the company’s contributions to socio-economic development through job creation, youth engagement programmes, and community empowerment initiatives.
Pondi subsequently approved the requests presented by the student body, including support for local and international scholarship schemes, employment opportunities for graduates and stakeholders, as well as mobility support for the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students.
The development is expected to provide fresh opportunities for Nigerian students and graduates while strengthening collaboration between the student body and the private sector in advancing educational and socio-economic development.
