YFON Unveils Prof. Mimiko As Keynote Speaker For 4th Interactive Session, Dinner

The Planning Committee for the 4th Edition of the Yemie Fash Online News Platform (YFONP) Interactive Session and Dinner has unveiled renowned political scientist, public affairs commentator and former Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Professor Nahzeem Oluwafemi Mimiko, as the keynote speaker for this year’s event.

Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Adeolu Gboyega, announced the development on behalf of the organisers, describing Professor Mimiko as a distinguished scholar whose contributions to public discourse and national development have earned him widespread respect within and outside Nigeria.

According to Gboyega, the event, scheduled to hold on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at The Dome, Alagbaka, Akure, will focus on the theme, “The Security Challenge and the Future of Nigeria: Implications for National Development Ahead of the 2027 Elections.”

He said the choice of Professor Mimiko reflects the organisers’ commitment to fostering informed conversations around critical national issues, particularly at a time when security challenges continue to dominate discussions on Nigeria’s future and development trajectory.

“Professor Mimiko’s wealth of experience as an academic, policy analyst and public affairs commentator makes him eminently qualified to lead this important conversation,” Gboyega stated.

He added that the annual YFONP Interactive Session and Dinner has become a respected platform for engaging policymakers, security experts, academics, business leaders, media practitioners, traditional rulers, civil society actors and other stakeholders on matters of national importance.

Gboyega further disclosed that additional speakers and panelists drawn from diverse sectors would be announced in the coming weeks, noting that discussions at the event would focus on practical solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges and their implications for governance, economic growth and democratic stability ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Activities for the event will commence with a red carpet reception at 1:00 p.m., while the main programme begins at 2:00 p.m.The organisers called on stakeholders and members of the public to participate in the forum and contribute to conversations aimed at building a safer, more stable and prosperous Nigeria.
