Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, defeating Future Stars ’99 15-0 in a friendly match at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, as preparations intensify for their upcoming encounter against Benin Republic.
Despite making wholesale changes to the squad, the Flamingos dominated from start to finish, showcasing their attacking prowess and depth ahead of the first leg of their U-17 qualifying fixture.
Kindness Ifeanyi set the tone with a first-half hat-trick, finding the net in the 8th, 10th and 29th minutes. Tosin Rafiu added a brace in the 13th and 19th minutes, while Queen Joseph and Esther Stephen were also on target in the 21st and 26th minutes respectively.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time to hand the Flamingos an emphatic lead at the break.

The second half produced more goals as Oluebube Umejiaku scored twice in the 60th and 65th minutes, while Destiny Itobore added another in the 63rd minute. Precious Oscar also grabbed a brace with goals in the 79th and 84th minutes before Tobiloba Sarafa completed the rout with two stoppage-time strikes in the 97th and 100th minutes.
The convincing victory is expected to boost the confidence of the Flamingos as they continue preparations for the first leg of their U-17 qualifying fixture against Benin Republic, scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
