NANS Launches Portal To Verify Unpaid SIWES Allowances

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has launched an online verification portal to compile details of students who have completed their Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) but are yet to receive their Industrial Training Fund (ITF) allowances.

The initiative was announced in a press statement issued on Thursday by the President of NANS, Dist. Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, GCNS, following the inauguration of the ITF SIWES and Intervention Projects Assessment, Verification and Monitoring Committee.

According to the student body, the portal became necessary following conflicting reports over the payment of SIWES allowances to eligible beneficiaries. While some reports indicate that payments have been made, NANS said it has continued to receive complaints from students who insist they have not received their entitlements.

The association explained that the verification exercise is aimed at establishing the actual number of affected students and providing credible data to support engagements with the relevant authorities to facilitate the payment of outstanding allowances.

NANS therefore urged all students who have successfully completed their industrial training programme but are yet to receive their SIWES stipends to register their details through the dedicated online portal at https://itf.nanshq.org.

The association assured students that the information gathered would be used strictly for verification and advocacy purposes, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the welfare and interests of Nigerian students.

“As your President, I remain committed to speaking for you, representing your interests, and relentlessly advocating for your welfare,” Akinteye stated.
