Officials of the Ondo State Government on Wednesday joined the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, members of the National Assembly and other stakeholders to inspect Section 4B of the ongoing Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway traversing Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Among those on the inspection tour was the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ondo State House of Assembly and member representing Ondo West Constituency I, Otunba Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju, who described the project as a landmark investment capable of transforming the economic fortunes of coastal communities.
The delegation assessed the progress of work on the highway, with officials expressing satisfaction that construction is advancing in line with the Federal Government’s implementation plan. The multi billion naira project is expected to improve transportation, facilitate trade, attract investments, generate employment and open up new economic opportunities across Nigeria’s coastal corridor.
Speaking after the inspection, Ogunwumiju said the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway would significantly strengthen regional connectivity and enhance the movement of people and goods, adding that its completion would stimulate economic growth and promote sustainable development in Ondo State and beyond.
The lawmaker commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising critical infrastructure nationwide, while also applauding Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for working closely with the Federal Government to attract developmental projects to the state.
He equally praised the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for his leadership and commitment to the successful execution of the highway project, describing it as a strategic investment that would boost commerce, improve national integration and create greater economic opportunities for Nigerians.
