…Commends Chief of Protocol for prompt response

A former Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Students’ Affairs, Hon. Kevin Solomon Olaolu, has commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his swift intervention in the lingering crisis affecting tertiary institutions in the state.
Olaolu, in a statement on Monday, described the governor’s approval of a 60 per cent increase in subventions to state-owned tertiary institutions and the commitment to implement the Federal Government/University Unions agreement as steps in the right direction.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for responding positively to concerns raised over the welfare of students and staff as well as the disruption of academic activities in the state’s tertiary institutions.
The former Senior Special Assistant also specially commended the governor’s Chief of Protocol, Mr Abayomi Olasanya, for what he described as his prompt response, support and commitment towards ensuring that the concerns received the attention they deserved.
“Egbon, you’ve always been there for me, and I sincerely appreciate your support,” Olaolu said while acknowledging Olasanya’s role.
Olaolu, who served as the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Students’ Affairs, said his experience in the position had given him an understanding of the importance of timely intervention and meaningful engagement whenever issues concerning students’ welfare and academic future arise.
He urged the state government to ensure the full implementation of the newly approved measures, stressing that their success would ultimately be measured by the impact on tertiary institutions, workers and students.
“I commend His Excellency for listening and taking action, and I sincerely hope these commitments will be fully implemented for the benefit of our institutions, staff and, most importantly, our students,” he said.
The commendation comes shortly after Governor Aiyedatiwa approved a 60 per cent increase in monthly subventions to all state-owned tertiary institutions and the immediate implementation of the agreement reached between the Federal Government and university unions.
The measures are expected to help address some of the challenges contributing to the ongoing industrial action affecting state-owned tertiary institutions in Ondo State.
