Prince Orimisan Taiwo, President of the Ondo South Grassroots Network, has said he remains committed to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa despite the possibility of not being considered for an appointment in the state government.
Taiwo, who contested for the Ondo State House of Assembly seat for Okitipupa Constituency II, said he had chosen to accept the Governor’s preferred candidate in the interest of political understanding and the administration’s direction.
According to him, his decision to step aside and support the Governor’s choice was part of his commitment to the leadership of the administration and his belief in its vision.
He said his loyalty and support had been demonstrated through his political activities, adding that he had served with sincerity and dedication without making an appointment the sole basis of his relationship with the administration.
“If His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Executive Governor of Ondo State, does not consider me for an appointment in his administration, despite my loyalty, commitment, and support for his leadership, I will remain grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the progress of our state,” Taiwo said.
The Ondo South political leader acknowledged that appointments were at the discretion of the Governor and that it would not be possible for everyone who supported the administration to receive a government position.
He nevertheless stressed that whatever decision was eventually taken would not affect his commitment to his community or Ondo State.
“I have served with sincerity, dedication, and a strong belief in the vision of the administration. However, I understand that appointments are made at the discretion of the Governor and may not accommodate everyone who has shown support,” he stated.
Taiwo said his political journey should not be measured solely by whether he eventually secured a government appointment, insisting that he would continue to contribute to the development of his community and the state.
“Whatever the outcome, life goes on, and I will continue to contribute positively to my community and Ondo State,” he added.
His comments highlight the expectations that often accompany political support, particularly where aspirants make strategic concessions in the interest of party or leadership preferences. In Taiwo’s case, he said he contested for the House of Assembly seat but ultimately accepted the Governor’s choice candidate.
Despite the uncertainty over his possible appointment, Taiwo maintained that his commitment to the administration and the state remained intact.
