  • 2027: Ondo PDP Leaders Reaffirm Loyalty To Party, Set For Congresses

2027: Ondo PDP Leaders Reaffirm Loyalty To Party, Set For Congresses

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State gathered earlier today, Wednesday, at the party’s State Secretariat in Alagbaka, Akure, in a stirring show of unity and renewed purpose. The convergence, held under the auspices of the State Elders’ Caucus, was marked by passionate declarations of loyalty to the party and a unified resolve to reposition the PDP as the credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Rising from the packed and encompassing meeting, the leaders affirmed their full alignment with the congress timetable as released by the PDP National Secretariat, describing it as a golden opportunity to strengthen internal democracy and usher in a more vibrant, cohesive, and forward-looking party structure. With longstanding rifts now mended and personal ambitions subordinated to the collective good, the elders maintained that the PDP in Ondo has never been more united.
Chairman of the State Caretaker Committee, Rt. Hon. Bakkita Bello, led the charge with an impassioned address, noting that the party is fully prepared for credible and all-inclusive congresses across the 18 local governments. He emphasized that the failures of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had left a leadership vacuum the PDP is morally and structurally positioned to fill. “Our people are yearning for responsive governance, and the PDP stands ready to answer that call,” he declared.
Among the political heavyweights in attendance were the Chairman of the Elders Caucus, Dr. Tayo Dairo; former Deputy Governor Omolade Oluwateru; renowned legal luminary and former governorship candidate, Barr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN; PDP Board of Trustees member and party statesman, Olorogun Eddy Olafeso; gubernatorial hopeful, Barr. Ola Mafo; respected elder Chief Segun Adegoke; and former State Chairman and member of NEC, Hon. Clement Faboyede. Also present were all Local Government PDP Chairmen and an array of distinguished leaders drawn from across the three senatorial districts.
In a rousing conclusion, the elders called on members across the state to close ranks, rise above petty divisions, and embrace the shared goal of electoral redemption. With confidence and clarity of purpose, they declared that the PDP in Ondo is once again poised to reclaim its rightful place as the custodian of the people’s mandate and the architect of a better tomorrow.
  • SUG Presidents Shocked to Learn They Attended Workshop They Never Heard Of

SUG Presidents Shocked to Learn They Attended Workshop They Never Heard Of

In a bizarre twist that has left many student leaders bemused, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Ondo State Axis, has issued a public disclaimer debunking claims that all SUG Presidents in the state recently convened for a one-day workshop, claims none of the supposed attendees seem to recall.
The confusion began after a publication attributed to a group known as NANS G4 surfaced online, alleging that it had organized an all-inclusive summit of SUG leaders across Ondo State. However, in a swift rebuttal, NANS JCC Ondo Axis, under the chairmanship of Comrade Adekanye Mayomi Adeboye (INEC), dismissed the claims as “untrue, deceptive, and politically motivated.”
“It must be placed on record that at no time did all SUG Presidents convene for any such summit,” the statement read. “The so-called G4 group has no constitutional mandate to represent the collective interest of Nigerian students in Ondo State.” Some SUG Presidents who reportedly “attended” the phantom summit expressed shock, with one joking, “If I had known, I would’ve dressed better for my imaginary appearance.”
While affirming its respect for ideological caucuses within the student movement, the JCC leadership stressed that such groups must operate within the bounds of truth and transparency. “Misinformation and media manipulation are dangerous to the soul of student unionism,” the statement warned. “We will not stand by while falsehood is peddled in the name of unity.”
According to Comr. INEC, this will be the final time the JCC will respond to what it described as “manufactured narratives” from groups seeking political relevance. “Should the misrepresentation persist, we will not hesitate to invoke disciplinary procedures within NANS’ constitutional framework,” he declared.
Despite the absurdity of the situation, the JCC remains committed to its “Unified and Redefined Era,” founded on a five-point mission of inclusiveness, security, unity, collective welfare, and real student empowerment across campuses.

  • Peter Obi Vows to Serve Only One Term If Elected President, Says 48 Months Enough to Transform Nigeria

Peter Obi Vows to Serve Only One Term If Elected President, Says 48 Months Enough to Transform Nigeria

Presidential hopeful Peter Obi has restated his commitment to serving only one term of four years if elected, declaring that his vow is “sacrosanct” and rooted in his conviction that purposeful leadership does not require prolonged tenure.
In a statement posted on his verified X handle on Sunday afternoon, the former Anambra State governor drew parallels with global figures like Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, and Nelson Mandela, noting that their legacies were built on impactful service rather than lengthy stays in office.
“Forty-eight months is enough for any leader who is focused and prepared to make a meaningful difference,” Obi said. “If elected, I will not spend a day longer than four years in office. My word is my bond.”
Addressing recent scepticism about his pledge, Obi said some critics had dismissed his vow, with one suggesting he would not be believed “even if he swore by a shrine,” while another called for a “psychiatric evaluation” for anyone making such a promise.
“They are judging me by their own standards, where political promises are made to be broken,” Obi stated. “I have a verifiable track record that speaks louder than speculation. I fulfilled every promise I made in Anambra without deviation.”
Outlining his priorities for the proposed four-year term, Obi said his administration would focus on sanitising governance, tackling insecurity, boosting education and healthcare, alleviating poverty, supporting small businesses, and combating corruption “with unflinching resolve.” He also pledged to transform Nigeria from a consuming to a productive nation through investments in agriculture, technology, and manufacturing.
“These are not utopian dreams,” he maintained. “They are realistic, actionable goals achievable within four years. A new Nigeria is possible.”

In his opening address, the Caretaker Chairman welcomed all attendees and emphatically declared that the PDP in Ondo State remains intact, united, and resilient. Despite the recent defections of a few members to other political parties, especially the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party has not lost focus. Instead, it has grown stronger, more united, and better positioned as the only viable and credible opposition in Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
Speakers took turns to reaffirm their loyalty and commitment to the PDP, noting that defections are not a threat but a purification process that strengthens the party’s resolve. The leaders emphasized that PDP remains the only party capable of offering a real alternative to the ruling APC and that efforts are underway to present a formidable and unifying front in future elections.
In conclusion, the meeting resolved to remain focused, continue grassroots mobilization, and commence immediate ward and local congress preparations starting in August. The modalities for these congresses will be announced in due course.
The PDP in Ondo State is strong, focused, and prepared to reclaim its rightful place in the political landscape of the state and the nation.
