Ondo Association In USA Declares Support for Ekimogun Roundtable over Hon Abiola Makinde’s Recall

An Ondo Ekimogun Association in DMV United States of America has thrown its weight behind the accountability project embarked upon by the Ekimogun Roundtable in the community describing them as a reincarnate of the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi (Senior Advocate of the Masses) who stood firmly and strongly on the tenets of probity, truth and accountability throughout his lifetime.

The Diaspora group of Ondo Indigenes in the United States of America made this known through a statement sent to newsmen by its president Mr Omotayo Akinkugbe.

In the statement, Mr Akinkugbe says that with what is in the public glare, Ekimogun Roundtable is not asking for too much by demanding for accountability from Hon Abiola Makinde.

To us, Honorable Makinde is not helping himself and the community by evading his constituents’ enquiries, the core essence of leadership is accountability, hence, he should be honorable enough to present himself for public scrutiny. Instead of answering simple questions bothering on his plenary attendance and commitment to effective legislative duties, he is busy chasing shadows and sponsoring all kinds of groups to attack the Roundtable who are only asking for him to confirm or deny all allegations against him.

The Ekimogun Roundtable are asking simple and basic questions borderig on his legislative performance and constituency projects handling, instead of Hon Makinde to respond, he resulted to cheap blackmail, this is a serious disservice on the part of hon Makinde.

The Ondo Ekimogun Association DMV wishes to commend the Ekimogun Roundtable on the good works they are doing for the kingdom and encourage them not to relent on their efforts to ensure probity and accountability in Representation despite the attacks and campaign of calumny from Hon Abiola Makinde and his co-travelers.

“For a very long time, our town has been starved of purposeful leadership in PDP. Whatever challenge that may be faced, we have committed ourselves to make sure we provide answers. Our women, youths and elders are important to this course and we will ensure they are carried along.” the former Osun State PDP caretaker chairman also said.

#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: OSYN Demands Immediate Release of Peaceful Protesters

The Ondo State Youth Network(OSYN), under the leadership of Comrade Afe Adegboyega, has strongly condemned the arrest of Kunle Ajayi, the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate, along with several other peaceful protesters by the Nigerian Police. This incident occurred during the #EndBadGovernance protest in Akure, the state capital. The arrest has been widely criticized as a blatant abuse of fundamental human rights and a gross violation of democratic principles.
In his statement, Comrade Afe Adegboyega described the arrest as “disdainful for the fact that the protesters were simply exercising their constitutional rights to freedom of assembly and expression.” He called for the immediate and unconditional release of Kunle Ajayi and all other detained demonstrators. According to him, these individuals posed no security threat to the state and were only advocating for better governance and accountability from their leaders.
The Ondo State Youth Network has also made a direct appeal to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, urging him to use his position as the governor and Chief Security Officer of the state to intervene in this pressing matter. They are calling on him to ensure the prompt release of the arrested protesters, thereby upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of the citizens he swore to serve.
The arrest of Kunle Ajayi, alongside other peaceful protesters such as Oluwatobi Akinkuo, Patrick Owolabi, Kolawole Kumuyi, and Olalekan Oladehinde, has ignited widespread outrage and condemnation from various quarters. These individuals were participating in a peaceful demonstration against bad governance and seeking accountability from public officials when they were abruptly detained by the police.
The Ondo State Youth Network has pledged to continue their agitation for the release of the arrested protesters. They have also urged the Nigerian Police to respect the fundamental rights of citizens and to refrain from using excessive force against those engaging in peaceful protests. The Network emphasized that the use of force in suppressing legitimate dissent is not only undemocratic but also counterproductive to the development of the nation.
The Network remains resolute in its commitment to advocating for their release and will continue to push for greater accountability, transparency, and respect for human rights in governance. The youth network believes that only through such actions can a truly democratic society be nurtured and sustained, where the voices of the people are heard and respected.

  • Tinubu Support Group Cautions Protesters, Appeals for Patience

Tinubu Support Group Cautions Protesters, Appeals for Patience

The Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), has appealed to the people of Ondo State and its youths in particular to be more patient with President Bola Tinubu in his efforts at repositioning the country and making it our place of pride.
He said, “The fabric of our nation was already tearing, and time is needed to mend it for the good of all and a prosperous nation we all can be proud of.”
The AMG, in a statement signed by her Director General, Evangelist Olumuyiwa Asagunla, expressed worry and concern over what might turn out to be the outcome of the protest going by the way some unscrupulous individuals are promoting the protest for their gains and ulterior intentions.
The group said ‘We strongly hold that the right to protest is that of every citizen of this country and no one should attempt to subdue people’s voices whenever they choose to cry out about how they are been governed or misgoverned. We must also acknowledge that this our democracy as presently enjoyed was borne out of agitation and protests, and if there is any component of democracy that is germane, it is that of freedom.
“However, the trajectory of those and the records, over time, of those that seem to be promoting the protest with a political undertone is worrisome. At a time that we have not fully recovered from the woes of the EndSars, the looting, maiming and destruction of public facilities that were replaced by common patrimony or lost forever, we CAN’T afford to have a repeat of such and that is why the note of caution is been sounded to the ears of particularly the youths.
AMG noted that an uncoordinated protest without leadership is a very dangerous one, and youths should not allow themselves to be used by those who have ulterior motives again.
The group, who pleaded with all youths of Ondo State and the nation at large shelves, the planned End Bad Governance August 1 protest, also advised the government to step up the engagement of critical stakeholders and be proactive on the policies of government aimed at making life more bearable for Nigerians.
Highlighting President Tinubu’s efforts at solving the Nation’s issues, AMG noted that “within a year of the President in office, he has given power back to the people with the landmark Local government autonomy, through the supreme court judgment. A review of the Minimum wage to 70,000 nairas and the introduction of a Student loan scheme are some policies aimed at making life easier for Nigerians.
“Massive youth employment and promotion of personnel in correctional services, immigration and fire services, bother security, seamless application and collection of national passport, and other innovations brought by our national leader Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to the Ministry of Interior show that there are brighter days ahead. We need to be patient with the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government to correct the misrule of the past years.”
The group urged citizens to support the efforts of the president and his renewed Hope Agenda to ensure the nation is rid of all forms of anti-people policies
“Together we can birth a new nation with total and absolute support for President Tinubu to take back our country from those who have held us by the jugular over the years. We therefore strongly advise Nigerians not to embark on any protest for now because it will only create bad blood, and it may take us back into the dark days.” AMG concluded.

  • INSECURITY: ODSG Has Abandoned Ifon People, Town Under Siege – Popular Ondo Activist, OB Sugar

INSECURITY: ODSG Has Abandoned Ifon People, Town Under Siege – Popular Ondo Activist, OB Sugar

Happy 4th posthumous Birthday to His Royal Majesty, Oba Israel Adegoke Adeusi 1 (JP), the late Olufon of Ifon Omima Kingdom, in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
On November 26, 2020, IFON town was thrown into pandemonium and devastated position and drew a lot of attention around the world as our traditional ruler, the Olufon, Oba Israel Adeusi, was gruesomely killed by unknown dreaded Fulani gunmen while returning from the Council of Obas meeting in Akure.
This incident has not only made our town, IFON, headless but has left a big vacuum and scars on the peaceful loving people of Omima Kingdom. The distasteful and inglorious event has also exposed IFON to more attacks and called for more kidnapping and killing activities by these assailants. It has also brought no single developments into the town, rather, it only subjected the town to a series of backwardness and already became the ghost of itself. The elites have left the town to relocate to some neighboring towns and cities because of the security situation at home. Even the ones abroad are scared of returning home or paying a visit to their families at home due to the insecurity menace militating and now rampant in the axis. Our people could no longer go to their farms anymore. Travelers are scared to ply the axis.
Once upon a time, when there were no alternative routes, you had to drive through Ifon if you were maneuvering the West to the Midwest or Eastern Region. This gesture alone made commercial activities flourish, prosper, and bustle. The town and its neighboring communities solemnly relied on this to live large while we were hoping that things would continue on that trajectory and would someday be among the significant urban centers not only in Ondo State but Nigeria at large. Unfortunately, disappointedly, the reverse is the case as all hope and optimism were dashed as a nefarious series of attacks from these Fulani Kidnappers continued to prevail day by day in the areas.
Just last week, the IFON axis recorded two separate attacks. Farmers were attacked, kidnapped from their farms, and made to pay some ransom. In the same vein, travelers were kidnapped, a driver and passenger were shot dead, and among the people who were abducted was an NYSC member. Currently, their Families are looking for how to raise a huge amount of money for ransom.
On April 23, 2023, the former chairman of the local government, Hon. Bola Adelegbe, a brother to the current House of Representative member was abducted along Okeluse Road and till now, we have not heard about him even after paying the ransom of N5 million demanded by his faceless abductors. No one knows whether he’s alive or dead. These and many more are what we have been experiencing in IFON and as an indigene of the kingdom.
IFON, is a town without a Bank, a good access road, security, and a HEAD. Also, I could remember in 2017 when a 15-man gang of armed robbers invaded the defuncted Polaris Bank in Ifon, killing the three policemen on duty and escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash taken from the vaults of the bank. The incident grounded social and commercial activities in the town till this moment. It was an unforgettable day indeed. IFON is a town that shares a border with Edo and Ondo State.
In all of these, what has the government done so far to alleviate these sufferings and put succor to the people of IFON Omima Kingdom? How is the government of the day helping us to arrest this ugly situation and restore the lost glory to the land? Unfortunately, I am yet to hear anything from the Ondo State Government either through Governor Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa or his Deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, mni who happens to be more closer to the region in condemning or visiting our people in IFON to sympathize or give them the words of Hope. How about our supposed Leaders over there too, how are they helping the matter? Why are we yet to have a new OLUFON, politics or what? For how long are we going to live in fear? When are we jumping out of this unwarranted scenario?
However, I am appealing to the Federal government, Governor LUCKY ORIMISAN Aiyedatiwa and every concerned authority, the Security agencies to help us. There is nothing bad if we have a special security Joint Task Force (JTF) base stationed, patrolling along the dreaded routes. Also, combing the thick forest from Omolege-Elegbeka-Omi Alafa is very necessary including Igboke axis too. These aforementioned areas are the dwelling places, settlements, and Abode for these marauders perpetrating evils in our land.
IFON Sons and Daughters across the globe, it is time we reclaim our land and protect our people and their properties from the hands of these Gunmen. Enough is Enough. IFON is under siege. Our people are not safe anymore. They are suffering. We are being marginalized. It is time to reclaim the lost glory.
