Ondo Youth Group Chides Akeredolu For Using Police To Harass Adekambi

An Ondo State youth group, Ondo State Youth for Good Governance has described the invitation of Asiwaju Femi Adekambi as being politically motivated by the Governor of Omdo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. In a press release signed by Adojutelegan Adesuyi, the group chided the Nigerian Police Force for accepting to be used as a pun in a political game. The statement reads:

Press Statement of Ondo (State) Youth for Good Governance on the invitation of Asiwaju Adekanmbi Femi by the Nigeria Police Force.

The Nigeria Police Force in recent time has been used to intimidate our friend Asiwaju Adekanmbi, he is a law abiding citizen of this State and Nigeria at large. He has never for once been found guilty of any criminal or fraudulent act by any institution both within the Country and outside the country.

It all started in December 2017 when our friend is been molested by the NPF
“He had concluded plans to inaugurate a  project at Mapo Hall roundabout, Owo, in December 2017 as part of the annual thanksgiving that he usually organise at the end of the year.he usually hold an annual special thanksgiving service when choristers and clerics from different Christian denominations would be invited to lead his people in praising God. While the programme was ongoing, some police officers invaded the premises of the event  on the orders of the state government and arrested Hon.Femi Adekanmbi,  because some people in government felt threatened by his popularity and had concluded that he wanted to use the project to score cheap political points.”

However, his intentions were clear; all he was doing was to beautify his town. It’s quite unfortunate that some people read political meanings to it to the detriment of the impact the project would have on the town.

    The allegations against him?

When the police invited him to Akure, it became a different case entirely. They brought out a petition submitted over  years ago against him  as the reason for his invitation. We all felt terribly bad about the harassment. He however thank God for the good people of Owo in particular and Ondo State in general who stood by him and condemned the intimidation and harassment. He later returned home based on various interventions, he nevertheless accept the witch-hunting and persecution; it is part of the game and it makes him  stronger.

Asiwaju Adekanmbi Femi served as a Commissioner for Special duties, Culture and Tourism under the administration of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko for few months, of which every of his activities was well supervised and approved by the State Governor.
Several people served longer months under the administration of Mimiko and none of them has never been invited by the NPF then why intimidating our friend.

Asiwaju Adekanmbi Femi who served the State diligently was again petitioned at the Economic and Financial Crime Commission by Ondo State Attorney General Barr. Olawoye SAN, for the same petition that he is been invited for again.

EFCC are presently investigating the petition against our resolute friend. But because the State Commissioner of Police is under the control of the State Governor, the State Governor and the Commissioner for Justice has decided to use the Men of the  Nigeria Police to intimidate our Friend again.
Both the State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu SAN and the Attorney General of the State are from Owo local government, while Asiwaju Adekanmbi Femi is also from Owo Local government of the State.
But for the popularity and acceptability of Asiwaju Adekanmbi aspiration to serve the State at the apex office come 2020 the State Governor and Attorney General are feeling inferior as our Friend is the most popular and accepted aspirant for the 2020 gubernatorial election.

On the 2nd of July 2019 another invitation letter was issued to invite Femi Adekanmbi to kindly come to the Criminal investigation department of the Nigeria Police Force due to an investigation ongoing on a case of fraud and financial mismanagement reported to the commissioner of police by someone undisclosed.

We are making our position clear, that “we the OYGG are solidly behind our friend Asiwaju Adekanmbi Femi and we are saying that the Nigeria Police Force and the government of Ondo State under the leadership of Akeredolu Rotimi SAN, should thread softly with our friend as his antecedent has showed him as a gentle man to the core.
His political aspiration  towards the 2020 election is soaring higher everyday and the State governor is scared because of his clear chances of unsiting him from the Alagbaka apex office.
The Ondo State Youth for Good Governance is calling on the Inspector General of Police to intervene into this intimidating and molesting case of our dear Friend Asiwaju Adekanmbi Femi.

The earlier peaceful State has been in the news lately for wrong reasons with incessant cases of kidnappings and gunmen attacks by Fulani herdsmen, a situation that has thrown residents into palpable fear with travellers also at the mercy of men of the underworld.

Last Tuesday, about 10 people were reported to have been kidnapped along the ever busy Akure/Ado-Ekiti road. Several other cases have been reported around the State with Fulani herdsmen fingered as being responsible for the state of despair the State has been thrown into.

While monitoring the media protest, newsmen gathered that the Group expressed dissatisfaction about the seeming passiveness of government and security agencies to providing a feasible solution to the festering issue. In one of the tweets, a member was quoted as saying “the State Governor doesn’t seem to care about the security situation and even went on air to brag he can’t be kidnapped. Has he forgotten not all residents of the State has the capacity to walk around with retinue of security men armed to the teeth?”

While lamenting the negative impact of the activities of kidnappers and armed bandits on the people and the economy of the state, the group demanded immediate action from the State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, urging him to do more than talking and stamp his authority as the Chief Security Officer of the state. “He swore to ensure safety of lives and properties. What is he doing with the security vote he is drawing from the State’s coffers monthly?” they said.

Also, the group charged the State’s Commissioner of Police and other members of the State’s Security Council to not just fold their arms while the State is plunged into anarchy.

  • Exclusive: Fear Grips Local Council As Aketi Removes LG Boss Nominee, Replace With Pry 6 Holder

Exclusive: Fear Grips Local Council As Aketi Removes LG Boss Nominee, Replace With Pry 6 Holder

In what seem like a drama of the absurd on Thursday night, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu removed the Local Government Council Chairman nominee for Akoko North East LG, Alhaji Musa Kasali over accusations he is loyal to the Segun Abraham faction of the All Progressive Congress(APC), inside sources have revealed to SunshineReporters. Alhaji Kasali, it is reported, failed to convince the Governor beyond reasonable doubt he frolicked with the rival faction of their party.

Consequently, the Governor is reported to have also concluded plans to send a letter to the House of Assembly to announce his decision and then replace him with Mr. Omojola Asimi, a Primary Six holder political rookie.

The choice of the Governor is not going down well with political leaders from the LG. A key stakeholder, that will like to remain anonymous, expressed fear over the inability of Asimi to communicate in English. “How can the Governor do this to us? We all know Omojola Asimi cannot stand in front of a crowd and speak two correct sentences at a stretch. It will be catastrophic if such character is given such a critical position at a time the FG is trying to instigate fundamental reform in the LG. It will be largely counter productive. If the Governor want to empower Omojola, there are other political appointments that will not subject him to public scrutiny considering he doesn’t even have WAEC. Although, I believe being an SAN, the Governor won’t denigrate so low.”, the politician said.

“Even if the Governor allow this to scale through, our hope will rely on the House of Assembly to correct this abnormality. At least, the Speaker is a graduate. The Governor should just please substitute Asimi with a more qualified person who is capable of lifting the Council out of the perpetual security issues we are confronted with.”

SunshineReporters will keep you posted as events unfold.
