Peace Mass Transit release official statement on its passengers involved in fatal accident that were buried without their families consent in Kogi

Last week, some Twitter users made allegations that the management of Peace Mass Transit in connivance with men of the FRSC Kogi state command, buried some of their passengers who were involved in a fatal accident in Kogi state in August without the consent of their family members. Read here.

Now, the management of the transport company has released a statement over the issue.

Peace Mass Transit release official statement on its passengers involved in fatal accident that were buried without their families consent in Kogi

In the statement, the company said it regrets the unfortunate incident and that the decision to bury the deceased passengers was taken by all the parties at the scene of the accident. Read the statement below

PMT REGRETS ITOBE ACCIDENT, PLEADS FOR UNDERSTANDING.

We at Peace Mass Transit LTD, deeply regret and commiserate with families of victims of the August 16th accident at the Itobe end of the Lokoja-Abuja Road, involving one of our mini-buses.

Eye witness accounts of the unfortunate incident have been consistent, to wit: that a certain Peugeot 406 saloon car, bearing a large gas cylinder and coming from the opposite direction on top speed, while attempting to overtake another vehicle crashed into our bus head-on! The said PMT bus was, and remained on its rightful lane even at the point of the collision.

The resultant impact caused the gas cylinder to explode into a huge conflagration of fire which made it difficult for occupants of both vehicles to be rescued all alive.

Our sincere condolences go to the families of all the deceased passengers who had kept the faith with their preferred road transport service provider-PMT, but fell to the cold hands of death in those circumstances we view as most unfortunate.

It was also regrettable that national Emergency First Responders at the scene of the accident and natives of the area, apparently acting in good conscience, made the decision to honourably clear the thoroughfare, and inter the remains of deceased victims together, nearby. We have since been told on enquiry that the decision on internment was a collective one among the first responders, as a result of the state of the remains.

These same compatriots had also risked their lives to defy raging gas fire to pull out some passengers alive, moving them to hospital for treatment.

The life of every mortal is indeed in the hands of God,and at PMT, no safety consideration or concern is postponed for action for even a second, and the regulatory agencies can bear us out.

The ITOBE episode is the first of its kind in our history, hence, staff at all levels remain in deep, awful shock, even up till this moment.

Given a different scenario and circumstances, on another day, certain impulsive actions allowed on that occasion may have been handled differently, with more regard to peculiar sensibilities. Cultural and religious belief of those around also played a role here, but then, the noble motive and selfless efforts of these patriots that were on ground, could be put in the proper perspective, and appreciated.

We mourn our cherished passengers who were affected to no end, and send our heartfelt condolences to bereaved families. Your loss is our loss!

We place high premium on the welfare and safety of our dear Passengers. Clearly, we are in this situation, together. Please, be comforted.

We have kept in touch with majority of bereaved families and in frantic, committed efforts to reach the others whose contact details are not easily discernible from the travel manifest. This is why this statement is coming out now ,It is clearly a tough period for us at PMT, as we pledge our unwavering commitment to the safety of our travelling public who are the only reason we are in this ever challenging business called transportation.

Spare a thought for us in your prayers; we do, for you, all the time.
May God bless us all, and give all of us the Grace to carry on to His glory.

    Signed: PEACE MASS TRANSIT LTD

Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri reveals the only person who can make him quit smoking

Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri who is a chain-smoker has revealed the only person who can make him quit smoking.

The 59-year-old Italian who was known for chain-smoking on the touchline and smoke about five packs every day during his time in Italy, says the only one person who can make him even think about quitting is his father, Amerigo.

Sarri told Il Mattino: 'When my father learned I had this offer (from Chelsea), he told me to go to London, that it was the right thing to do.

'He did ask me to stop smoking at least while I'm here. He is the only one who for five minutes can make me wobble in my convictions.'

Due to the fact that smoking is prohibited inside English football stadiums, Sarri has been forced to abandon his matchday habit, and only uses what appear to be plastic cigarette filters.

Saraki: Why I Want To Be President – Rule Of Law, Fairness & Justice

Senate President Bukola Saraki has said that
his presidential aspiration was driven by an
obsession for justice, fairness and respect for
    the rule of law.
“I want to be President so that I can ensure
justice and fairness for everyone; I want a
country where the rule of law will be
respected by all,” Saraki said on Monday in
Makurdi, when he met with Benue State
    Working Committee of the PDP.
Saraki’s visit was to solicit support for his
presidential aspiration ahead of the 2019
general elections. “We need leaders who are
capable of representing all interest groups, and
not a section of the country.
“My presidential ambition is a collective
decision borne out of a desire to salvage the
disunity that we are witnessing,” he said.
Saraki claimed that it was the turn of the
North-Central geopolitical zone to produce the
nation’s President, declaring that he was ready
    to provide quality leadership.
“As a zone, we have paid our dues. It is the
turn of our zone to lead Nigeria to stability. “We
have gone through bad times. The nation has
become crises-ridden; the killings are uncalled
for and the Benue valley is the worst hit.
“There should be justice to every citizen,
    regardless of geographical location.
“Democracy entails freedom or rights of the
people. Our rights should not be imprisoned,” he
    said.
Saraki vowed to restore peace in the country if
elected as President, and called on Benue
delegates to vote for him during the party’s
    convention in October.
In a brief remark, Sen. Dino Melaye appealed to
the people of Benue to vote and guard their
votes during elections, saying that they must
promote and protect their rights to decide who
led them. In his remarks, Mr John Mgbede, PDP
chairman in the state, thanked Saraki and his
entourage for the visit and promised that
Benue would always vote for justice.
  • Why I Bought N20 Million Car – CDQ

When rapper Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, aka CDQ,
recently announced that he acquired a 2017 Ford
Mustang Fastback car valued at N20 million, his
    source of wealth was questioned.
While speaking with Sunday Scoop, CDQ said it was
normal for people to say whatever they wanted.
    He stated,
“It is allowed for people to judge you or have their
own opinions about you, but everything is between
you and your God. I do strictly music; both digital sales
of music and performing all over the world.”
While he was younger, CDQ said he had always
wanted to achieve all the things he was doing now.
According to the rapper, he is living his dream now.
CDQ, who shares a close intimacy with his mother,
admitted that he didn’t tell her when he wanted to buy
    the new car.
    He said,
“I didn’t have to tell my mum or make her know the
worth of my car. I believe I’m mature enough to
decide what I want for myself so far I can do the
work myself. The car I brought is a 2017 Mustang; it’s
    over N20 million.”
  • APC Can’t Return To Aso Rock In 2019 – Tambuwal

APC Can’t Return To Aso Rock In 2019 – Tambuwal

Sokoto State Governor and a Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Alhaji Aminu
Tambuwal saturday noted that the All Progressives
Congress (APC) would be defeated in the 2019
    presidential election.
Tambuwal, one of the actors that ended the PDP rule
in 2015, noted that he was confident of clinching the
PDP presidential ticket in the face of various political
gladiators seeking to run on the PDP platform.
He predicted APC’s defeat at a news conference at
the State House, Sokoto yesterday, expressing
confidence that he “has what it takes to clinch the
PDP presidential ticket in the forthcoming primary
    election.
In a memorandum to its National Executive Council
last Monday, the PDP had set aside October 5 and 6 to
hold its national convention where the party’s
candidate for the 2019 presidential election would
    emerge.

“I wish to officially make public my intention to run
for the Presidency of Nigeria. Let me appeal to one
million Nigerians put together N 200 each and
purchase nomination form for me to enable me
actualise this ambition for the good of all,” Tafida
    noted.
Tafida urged Nigerians to be wise and resist attempts
by political merchants to continue stifling the
country’s development through vote buying and
    manipulation of the electoral process.
He promised to tackle corruption and insecurity
headlong by doing away and eliminating the reign of
impunity currently being witnessed in the country to
pave way for rapid socio-economic development.
He promised to create jobs through mechanised
agriculture and rapid industrialization if elected into
office, noting that Nigerians “have suffered and it is
time to make sacrifices for a better society.”
