APC Has No Business Presenting Candidate In Rivers – Governor Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State says for the
All Progressives Congress (APC) to even contemplate
presenting a governorship candidate for the 2019
election in the state shows that something is
    fundamentally wrong with the party.
Wike spoke in an interview at the Government House,
Port Harcourt, stressing that aside from the plot to rig,
the APC has no platform to campaign upon in the
    State.
“For the APC to think of bringing somebody in this
state to challenge me, shows that something is
    fundamentally wrong with the party.
“What has the Federal Government done for the APC
in Rivers State? What has Rivers APC achieved?
Mention one thing. Is it in terms of the roads, the
airport or seaports?” he queried. He regretted that the
APC did not believe in credible polls, noting that rigging
and fraud were in the DNA of the party.
“All their meetings, all their gatherings at the federal
level, whether by hook or crook, they must have
Rivers State. They want to use soldiers, SARs, DSS.
All cries by the international community don’t matter.
Just take Rivers State first,” he said.
Governor Wike said as a Minister of State for
Education, his contributions to the development of
Rivers State were scattered across the state.
He wondered why the current Minister of
Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has failed the
people of Rivers by refusing to attract a single project
    to the state.
Governor Wike said: “When I was a minister and he
was in APC, I brought development to the state. For
example, I brought the Faculty of Law to the
University of Port Harcourt. I brought grant of N500
million to Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic and the Ignatius
    Ajuru University of Education.
“I’m from Rivers State and must contribute to the
development to the state. As at the time I was in the
Federal Government, he was the governor under APC
and there was no development in the state. I brought
the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC)
intervention to Rivers State. This is my State.”
Wike said, as governor of the State, he has
transformed Rivers, citing key projects across the
state. He said his third-year anniversary celebration
underscored the fundamentals of good governance
with leaders across political, traditional and social
    divides commissioning key projects.
The governor said in October, his administration would
commence another leg of project commissioning. He
noted that President Muhammadu Buhari would be
invited to commission projects, even though he is
unlikely to honor the invitation for political reasons.
Governor Wike said contrary to the propaganda of the
APC, he is not against the federal government, adding
that he is only committed to the fight against
    injustice.
“That’s the misconception; I don’t stand up against the
federal government. I stand up against injustice and
marginalization. It has nothing to do with the federal
government. If this government is not in place
tomorrow, and another government comes and
perpetrates injustice, I will stand up against them. It
has nothing to do with federal government,” Wike said.
On the alleged media propaganda by the Economic and
Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), on the
management of Rivers State finances under his
leadership, Governor Wike maintained that the law had
declared that the EFCC has no power to investigate
    the state government.
He said: “I’m not interested whether EFCC backs off
or not, being a body that does not respect the rule of
law. That is what the federal government is all about,
impunity. You heard the president say national
interest supersedes the rule of law. I’m not against
the EFCC fighting corruption if at all they are fighting
    corruption.
“My concern is for us to do things in accordance with
law. The law says we have a federation comprising
the federal government, the states, and the local
government areas. We go to the monthly federal
allocation when money comes to the federation and
all tiers take their share. The federal government is
now saying the money that comes to states will be
    monitored.”
He noted that the EFCC could only be taken seriously,
if it operates within the rule of law, by successfully
appealing the 2007 judgment between the commission
    and the state government.
“I was not here in 2007 when the Rivers State
government went to court against the EFCC; to say
the commission has no constitutional power to
interrogate the finances of the State government.
And the matter was adequately addressed and
judgment was given against EFCC. Since 2007; EFCC
has been struggling to appeal the judgment. EFCC has
not succeeded up till now. What they are doing now is
when they feel a government is not pro-Buhari, let’s
    do this.

‘Forget Automatic Ticket’ – Kogi PDP Aspirants Tell Melaye, Other Decampees

Aspirants for various elective positions in Kogi
State have warned the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, to be mindful of giving automatic
tickets to serving elective office holders,
saying doing so would not augur well for the
party in the 2019 general elections.
Addressing a press conference, yesterday, in
Abuja, an aspirant seeking the party’s ticket to
run for Kogi East Senatorial seat, Barrister
Halima Alfa, who spoke on behalf of 29 other
aspirants, said there was a ploy by the National
Working Committee, NWC, of the party to
    conduct pre-determined primaries where their
    “anointed candidates” would be declared
    winners.
Barrister Alfa, specifically, claimed that the
party had resolved to give automatic tickets to
serving senators and House of Representatives
members on a right of first refusal to the
exclusion of other aspirants, adding that as
members of the party, such move would be
    resisted
She said: “Having been consistent party men
and women who have paid all party dues,
expended huge financial resources to purchase
Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms,
it will be against the guidelines of the party, it
will offend the spirit of internal democracy, it
will contravene the Constitution as well as the
Electoral Act for the party’s leadership under
whatever guise, to arrange a pre-determined or
    manipulated primary.”
“Senator Dino Melaye met with all the local
government executives of the seven Local
Government Areas that make up Kogi West on
Friday, and boasted that organs of the party
had resolved to give the ticket to him, being a
serving senator decampee into the party
regardless of the interest, aspiration, eligibility
and qualification of other aspirants,” she added.

  • APC Can’t Return To Aso Rock In 2019 – Tambuwal

APC Can’t Return To Aso Rock In 2019 – Tambuwal

Sokoto State Governor and a Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Alhaji Aminu
Tambuwal saturday noted that the All Progressives
Congress (APC) would be defeated in the 2019
    presidential election.
Tambuwal, one of the actors that ended the PDP rule
in 2015, noted that he was confident of clinching the
PDP presidential ticket in the face of various political
gladiators seeking to run on the PDP platform.
He predicted APC’s defeat at a news conference at
the State House, Sokoto yesterday, expressing
confidence that he “has what it takes to clinch the
PDP presidential ticket in the forthcoming primary
    election.
In a memorandum to its National Executive Council
last Monday, the PDP had set aside October 5 and 6 to
hold its national convention where the party’s
candidate for the 2019 presidential election would
    emerge.
Apart from Tambuwal, former Vice President, Atiku
Abubakar; former Kano State Governor, Sen. Rabiu
Kwankwaso; President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola
Saraki; Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Hassan
Dankwambo, former PDP National Chairman, Sen.
Ahmed Makarfi, former Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji
Attahiru Bafarawa and former Jigawa State Governor,
Alhaji Taminu Turaki, among others, are seeking the
    PDP nomination.
At the news conference yesterday, Tambuwal said he
had gone round the country “to meet with party
members and was optimistic of winning big in the
forthcoming polls. Delegates of the party are the
determinants of the winner of the primary election
and as such confident that they would vote for him.
“As you are aware, the primary election is about party
delegates and I am sure that the delegates would find
me worthy to be the PDP candidate, with a view to
    winning the 2019 presidential election.”
He noted that his mission to become the President of
the Federal Republic of Nigeria was borne out of the
desire to rescue Nigeria from the myriad of challenges
bedeviling it, noting that the people of Nigeria “are in
dire need of a secured and economically developed
country, as well as a stable polity.”
Tambuwal expressed determination “to provide quality
education for the youths so as to become useful in
the society if given the mandate come 2019. The PDP
will defeat the APC in the 2019 presidential election.”
At the end of the primary election, the presidential
aspirant pledged “to accept the outcome of the
election whether I win or lose. This is because
anybody, who wins believes that, we are going to
work collectively to save Nigeria from the present
mess we find ourselves in the country.”
Another PDP presidential aspirant, Mr. Hamidu Tafida
yesterday appealed to Nigerians to contribute money
for him to enable him obtain the party’s nomination
    form and achieve his aspiration.
Tafida stated that he would be able “to prosecute his
campaign if one million Nigerians contribute N200
each to his campaign fund. The situation in the
country required sacrifice from all and sundry to pull
it out of the doldrums saying all hands must be on
    deck to overhaul the country.
“I wish to officially make public my intention to run
for the Presidency of Nigeria. Let me appeal to one
million Nigerians put together N 200 each and
purchase nomination form for me to enable me
actualise this ambition for the good of all,” Tafida
    noted.
Tafida urged Nigerians to be wise and resist attempts
by political merchants to continue stifling the
country’s development through vote buying and
    manipulation of the electoral process.
He promised to tackle corruption and insecurity
headlong by doing away and eliminating the reign of
impunity currently being witnessed in the country to
pave way for rapid socio-economic development.
He promised to create jobs through mechanised
agriculture and rapid industrialization if elected into
office, noting that Nigerians “have suffered and it is
time to make sacrifices for a better society.”

Why I Bought N20 Million Car – CDQ

When rapper Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, aka CDQ,
recently announced that he acquired a 2017 Ford
Mustang Fastback car valued at N20 million, his
    source of wealth was questioned.
While speaking with Sunday Scoop, CDQ said it was
normal for people to say whatever they wanted.
    He stated,
“It is allowed for people to judge you or have their
own opinions about you, but everything is between
you and your God. I do strictly music; both digital sales
of music and performing all over the world.”
While he was younger, CDQ said he had always
wanted to achieve all the things he was doing now.
According to the rapper, he is living his dream now.
CDQ, who shares a close intimacy with his mother,
admitted that he didn’t tell her when he wanted to buy
    the new car.
    He said,
“I didn’t have to tell my mum or make her know the
worth of my car. I believe I’m mature enough to
decide what I want for myself so far I can do the
work myself. The car I brought is a 2017 Mustang; it’s
    over N20 million.”
