Lewandowski Set for Chicago Fire Move After Barcelona Exit

Poland captain Robert Lewandowski is on the verge of joining Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire after reaching a verbal agreement with the American club, according to transfer reports.

The 37-year-old striker is expected to complete the move early next week after reportedly visiting Chicago about two weeks ago to hold discussions over the transfer.

Lewandowski, who recently ended his spell with Spanish giants Barcelona, is understood to be joining Chicago Fire as a free agent, having opted for the MLS club ahead of other offers.

The move will mark the end of an illustrious European career that saw the prolific forward enjoy successful spells with Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, winning numerous domestic league titles, the UEFA Champions League and several individual honours.

Should the deal be completed, Lewandowski would become one of the biggest names to join Major League Soccer in recent years, adding to the growing list of global football stars who have chosen the United States in the latter stages of their careers.

Chicago Fire are expected to make an official announcement once contractual formalities are concluded.
