The Ondo State Government has announced a temporary restriction on the movement of persons and vehicles across the state on Saturday, August 29, 2026, for the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
The restriction, according to the government, will be enforced between 7:00am and 10:00am during the statewide sanitation exercise.
In a notice issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Tob Loko, the government urged residents to use the period to clean their surroundings and participate actively in the exercise.
Residents were specifically encouraged to clear drainage channels, desilt gutters, remove refuse and debris and trim overgrown weeds around their homes and communities.
The government said the monthly sanitation programme remained part of its efforts to promote a clean, safe and disease-free environment across the state.
It, therefore, called for the full cooperation and active participation of residents in the exercise.
“The Government reiterates its steadfast commitment to ensuring a clean, safe and disease-free environment for all citizens and calls for the full cooperation and active participation of residents in the monthly sanitation programme,” the notice stated.
The Commissioner urged members of the public to comply with the movement restriction and take advantage of the exercise to improve environmental sanitation in their respective communities.
