A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okitipupa Local Government Area, Hon. Falana Oyewole, popularly known as Ojamami, has rejected his appointment as Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Oyewole conveyed his decision in a letter dated September 22, 2026, addressed to Governor Aiyedatiwa through the Secretary to the Ondo State Government.
While expressing appreciation to the governor for considering him for the appointment, Oyewole said he decided to decline the offer after consultations with his family and political leaders in Ode-Erinje.
He, however, used the letter to draw the governor’s attention to what he described as the neglect of Erinje in the distribution of strategic political appointments in the state.
According to him, the people of Erinje feel “deeply neglected” because the community has not been given what he described as a “juicy or strategic appointment” in the present administration.
Oyewole said the Special Assistant appointment, although appreciated, was considered by many in the community as inadequate in view of what he described as Erinje’s massive support and loyalty to the governor and the APC in Okitipupa Local Government and Ondo State.
“This appointment, while appreciated, is seen by many in our community as a slap on our face, given our massive support and loyalty to your government and to the APC in Okitipupa Local Government and Ondo State,” he stated.
He appealed to Governor Aiyedatiwa, whom he described as the governor and father of the state, to reconsider Erinje’s situation and provide the community with a more meaningful and impactful appointment that could give the people a greater sense of belonging.
Oyewole said such an appointment should be capable of bringing “real development” to Erinje rather than merely offering another Special Assistant position.
Despite rejecting the appointment, the APC chieftain reaffirmed his loyalty to the governor and prayed for the success of the administration.
“I remain loyal to your administration and I pray for your success in office,” he stated.
The development is expected to generate discussion within political circles in Okitipupa, particularly over the distribution of political appointments and representation among communities in the local government.
Oyewole maintained that his decision to reject the appointment was based on personal reasons, while also appealing to the governor to address what he described as Erinje’s demand for greater political recognition.
