International Youth Day: BTO FOR PBAT ’27 Urges Youths to Take Active Role in Party Politics

The BTO FOR PBAT ’27 has urged Nigerian youths to take active roles in party politics, saying their voices and ideas must be represented in decisions shaping the country’s future.

The group made the call in a statement by its Director General, Ogbeni Adojutelegan Adesuyi Gideon, to commemorate the 2026 International Youth Day.

BTO FOR PBAT ’27, while celebrating Nigerian youths and young people across the world, said the occasion provided an opportunity to recognise the courage, creativity, resilience and contributions of young people to national development, democratic advancement and global progress.

The group described youths as indispensable partners in the leadership and development of Nigeria, stressing that their energy, innovation and determination remained critical to building a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive nation.

It said Nigerian youths should not be regarded merely as “leaders of tomorrow”, arguing that they had important roles to play in the leadership and development of the country today.

The organisation consequently urged young Nigerians to move beyond observing political developments from the sidelines and become registered party members, policy advocates, grassroots organisers, candidates and responsible decision makers.

“Meaningful political change requires active participation. The voices, ideas and aspirations of young Nigerians must be represented wherever decisions affecting their future are made,” the group said.

BTO FOR PBAT ’27 also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting youth inclusion, political education and responsible leadership, while advocating the creation of opportunities that would enable young people to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic journey.

The group congratulated Nigerian youths and young people across the world on the occasion of International Youth Day.
