
The member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso, has described youths as the “heartbeat and powerhouse” of every nation, urging them to remain committed to building a better Nigeria.
Akingbaso, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation, stated this in a message commemorating the 2026 International Youth Day on Wednesday.
The lawmaker, while congratulating Nigerian youths, particularly those from Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, said the creativity, courage and resilience of young people remained critical to the country’s development.
According to him, nations that desire a prosperous future must invest deliberately in their youths, whom he described as visionary, resourceful and resilient.
He noted that youths in Idanre/Ifedore and across Nigeria had demonstrated their capacity to excel in various fields, including technology, agriculture, arts, entrepreneurship, leadership, sports and public service.
Akingbaso said, “Today, I celebrate you, our visionary, vibrant and iconic youth, not just in Idanre/Ifedore, but across Nigeria and the world.
“Your creativity, courage and commitment give me great hope for our future. I believe in your capacity to lead, to build, and to transform.”
The federal lawmaker urged young people to remain hopeful and committed to their aspirations, assuring them that their voices and contributions would remain important in shaping the future of the country.
He also prayed for greater opportunities for youths, expressing the hope that their dreams and aspirations would become realities.
Akingbaso wished Nigerian youths a happy International Youth Day and urged them to recognise that “the future is yours, and the time is now.”
