  • Housewives bathe each other with hot water over lover

Housewives bathe each other with hot water over lover

    Biliki (L) and Muyibat (R)
Two housewives, identified only as Muyibat and Biliki, have suffered severe burns after a fight over a man.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the two
women emptied a kettle of hot water on each other during the brawl
which occurred at their residence in the Yaba area of Lagos State.
Biliki, who was living with her husband
in the Surulere area of the state, relocated to her parents’ house in
Abule Oja, Yaba, in 2015, after separating from the husband.

Muyibat lives with her husband and three children in the house.
Our correspondent was told that 32-year-old Biliki accused Muyibat, 29, of marrying her former boyfriend, which caused bad blood between them.
Matters, however, came to a head after a disagreement on Saturday when the duo poured hot water on each other.
They were both admitted to a general hospital in the state.
    Our
correspondent gathered that the case was reported at the Sabo Police
Division and one of the parties petitioned the Lagos State Office of the
Public Defender, which mediated in the matter.
Muyibat told PUNCH Metro that their problem started after Biliki accused her of marrying her (Biliki’s) boyfriend.
She said, “Biliki told neighbours that she once dated my husband and that she aborted for him during their relationship.
    “She calls me Iyawo Sara
(free wife).  I have never known peace in that house. She fights me over every minor issue.
“On Saturday, I went to the market with my husband and when we got home, my child started crying.
“Biliki’s younger brother, Ahmed, came out and shouted at him and I cautioned him.
“His sister then picked up a quarrel
with me and started raining curses on me. I did not talk because I was
observing a fast. While she was abusing me, I sneezed and said, ‘Ausubillahi minashaitani rojeem’ (God, deliver me from the devil).”
Muyibat said Biliki, who is also a Muslim, thought she was referring to her and queried her for calling her a devil.
She alleged that Biliki attacked her in the process.
“I removed the water I was boiling for
my vegetables and put it on the table. She (Biliki) held my head from
behind and poured the hot water on me.
“Her younger brother slammed a plastic paint on my head, while she drew my hair. Both of them assaulted me,” Muyibat added.
The Kwara State indigene said she was
rushed to a private hospital where she was rejected, adding that she
later went to the Sabo Police Station to report the case.
Muyibat, who claimed to have passed out
on the way to the general hospital, said Biliki had earlier in May
threatened to pour acid on her.
However, Biliki, who suffered burns on
her breasts, chest and hand, denied the allegations, saying her
neighbour was the first to attack her.
    She denied ever dating Muyibat’s
husband, saying Muyibat was fond of making trouble with her and efforts
to reconcile them had always been rebuffed by her.
She said, “I went back to my parents’
house when I had issues with my husband. Because of that, many of the
    tenants started ridiculing me.
“I was ill that Saturday and was
sleeping beside my baby. Her child had come to play with my baby when
she called him back. When the child didn’t heed her call, she hit him
    and the child started crying.
    “Another child passing through the
passageway was also crying that partcular time. My younger brother asked
the other boy to stop crying and Muyibat abused my brother.
“My brother reported her to me and I
told him not to reply her. She then started insulting me. We fought and
our neighbours came to separate us.
“I was backing her when somebody
suddenly shouted, ‘hot water!’ As I turned back with my hands raised,
she emptied a kettle of hot water on me. Because my hand was raised when
she attacked me, a little of the water splashed on her.”
Biliki said Muyibat also bit her brother
while the latter came to separate them, adding that her two phones were
    smashed by Muyibat.
The Director of the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender, Mrs. Olubukola Salami, described the incident as horrific.
She said, “This horrific incident was
totally avoidable as either of the parties could have just walked away
and lodge a formal complaint at the nearest police station. But they
decided to take the law into their hands and the result was unfortunate.
    “Domestic violence has repercussions and
it’s totally unacceptable anywhere. The Lagos State Government will
deal harshly with those who disturb public peace.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.
She added that the victims were both given medical papers for treatment, but they had yet to report back to the station.

Guests stab schoolboy to death at birthday party

    Endurance Augustine  – Boy Stabbed
A birthday party on Kehinde Street in
the Ajegunle area of Lagos State turned bloody when some guests began a
fight and stabbed a schoolboy, Endurance Augustine, to death.
Policemen from the Ajeromi division were said to have removed Endurance’s corpse and deposited it in a morgue.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Endurance had gone to the party with some of his friends, when a fight broke out.

A resident told our correspondent that
the cause of the fight was unknown, adding that the hoodlums, who were
guests at the party, fled after stabbing the victim to death.
It was gathered that two suspects, who
were trying to hide the victim’s corpse, were apprehended by residents
and handed over to the police.
When our correspondent visited the area,
Endurance’s mother, who did not want her name in print, said she had
gone to a church service at 4pm on Wednesday only to hear the news of
her son’s death on her return.
The mother of four added that if
Endurance had told her that he was attending a party, she would have
dissuaded him from going as the area had been tense.
She said, “I don’t think Endurance had a
quarrel with anyone before he was stabbed to death. He did not inform
me that he was going to a birthday party. He was an easy-going boy. He
went to school every day and ought to be in the senior school by
September. I am pained that my son was murdered. I don’t even know who
    organised the party.”
A resident, who identified herself only
as Mary, said she was in her shop when she noticed a crowd of youths
    trooping into the street.
“Their dressing did not show good
manners. In fact, some of them came to the front of my shop and smoked
hemp. I warned them to stop and asked them to leave my premises, but
    they ignored me.
“It was on the following day that I was told they fought and a boy was killed,” she added.
A witness, who spoke on condition of
anonymity, said, “I learnt that the birthday host was a lady. She used
to stay with her parents on Kehinde Street. She decided to come on
    Wednesday to celebrate the birthday.
“I was in my house eating when I heard
people shouting that they were fighting on the next street and a boy had
been killed. Everyone quickly shut their doors until policemen came.
They took the boy’s corpse away. A tricycle was also set ablaze by the
    thugs.
“What began as a birthday party resulted
in a street fight. Gang fights are becoming rampant now in Ajegunle.
The police should strengthen security in the area.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.
She said, “Rival cults engaged each
other on the streets and the police mobilised to the scene. A corpse was
found and deposited at the Ajeromi General Hospital for an autopsy. Two
suspects were arrested at the spot and efforts are on to arrest other
    fleeing suspects.”

Aid worker, Anja R. Lovén, who rescued a ‘Witch child’ in Akwa Ibom, shares pics of a Childrens Center she’s building in Nigeria

Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Lovén, who rescued and rehabilitated a
little boy that was accused of witchcraft and abandoned by his family in
Akwa Ibom, shared these photos of a Children’s center she’s currently
building in Nigeria. According to Anja, her charitable organization
DINNødhjælp bought a very big piece of land here in Nigeria last year
and are now building a center in collaboration with Engineers Without
    Borders.
    According to her,

“Land of Hope” is the name of our new land which is also written above
our main gate. The wall all around our big land has already been build
and razor wire all around has been placed on the top of the wall.

We are now in the proces of building 6 of our main buildings: Girls
hostel, boys hostel, kitchen both indoor and outdoor, office/library
building, security/generator house and volonteers house. Hopefully we
will finish in a few months. It’s rainy season so the rain is giving us
some challenges but the workers are really working fast and our engineer
    is doing a great job!

We are also going to build a Parliamentary Hall which will serve as an
“Event Center”. We will also build an ICT- Center ( Information
    Communication Technology Center ).

And finally we will as most of you also know build a Medical Health
Clinic which we have already named “Hope’s Clinic” – donated by Denmark.
“Land of Hope” will be the future land for the vulnerable children in
Nigeria. A land of hope for a brighter future.

    Read the statement below…

The Guild of Professional Bloggers of Nigeria (GPBN), the umbrella group

In a statement signed by its Ag President, Chris Kehinde Nwandu, on
behalf of the Association, the Union asked the graft agency to
    immediately release the blogger .

It queries the action of the graft agency which is usurping
the functions of the police. According to the body, the appropriate action to
be taken by the agency if aggrieved is to report the matter to the police which
will then carry out an investigation.
The accused will be made to write down its statement and if
found culpable charged to court to defend his action.
While we will not condone, the action of any member, the
Union said the manner with which the agency arrested the blogger is condemnable
.It does not follow global practice.
It therefore calls on the graft agency to focus its
attention on its core mandate which is financial and other economic related
    offences.
It will be recalled that Mr Abubakar Sodiq Usman , publisher
of www.abusidiqu.com was picked up at
his Kubwa, Abuja home in the early hours of yesterday by some operatives of the
EFCC and was questioned over the alleged offence which contravenes sections of

According to the Union, the association has set up an ethics
committee within its ranks to handle issues like this. It requests any aggrieved
person or organization to take full advantage of the ethics committee of the Union
to address critical issues of this nature.

‘You are a total failure’ – Kano APC Chieftain tells Pres. Buhari

Factional chairman of APC in Kano State, Hussaini Mairiga, has described
President Buhari as a total failure and a disappointment to Nigerians.
According to Vanguard, Maigira said this while speaking to newsmen in the state yesterday August 8th.

“From the looks of things, President Buhari has betrayed the confidence
of the Nigerian masses who voted for him massively into power.” he said

According to Maigira, one year after assuming office, President Buhari
and his cabinet members have nothing to show for it. He said hunger and

  • Primary Elections: 25 Aspirants In APC Jostle For Party’s Ticket In Ondo

Primary Elections: 25 Aspirants In APC Jostle For Party’s Ticket In Ondo

Twenty-five aspirants are now jostling for the
governorship ticket of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in
Ondo State ahead of the party’s primary election, SaharaReporters can
    authoritatively report.

The number of aspirants went down from the initial 54 aspirants before the announcement of various levies to contest the ticket.

This figure was exclusively obtained from the party’s national
leaders on Sunday following the expiration of sales of nomination forms
to the interested aspirants aiming to contest in the party’s primary
    poll.
The primary election will hold on Saturday 27 August, 2016, our correspondent reports.

The twenty-five aspirants include Ajayi Borrofice, Olusegun Abraham,
Olusola Oke, Rotimi Akeredolu, Tayo Alasoadura, Jumoke Anifowose, Gboye
Oyewumi, Bode Ayorinde, Olabimtan Victor and Paul Akintelure.

Others are Jamiu Ekungba, Ademola Adegoroye, Akinwale Akingbade,
Apata Awodeyi, Akinrinsola Odunayo,, Derin Adesida,, Tunji Abayomi,
Bukola Adetula, Niyi Adegbonmire, Foluso Adeyemi, Ayo Akinyelure, Dele
Alade, Akinola Olayinka, Tunji Light Ariyomi and Moyosola Niran
    Oladunni.

The candidates’ posters can be found on billboards all over the main capital city of Akure, Ondo State.
Furthermore, their activities and utterances have since been trending
mostly on political programs of radio broadcast in the State.

One of the national leaders of the party confided that that these
twenty-five aspirants are those who visited the party’s secretariat to
    get the nomination forms.

He disclosed that they paid the sum of N5 million for the
governorship nomination form, with the expression of interest form
totaling N500,000 aside the N2 million development levies already paid.

“The sales of nomination forms started on Tuesday 19th, July, 2016
and ended on Friday 15th, 2016. I could categorically tell you that
twenty-five [25] aspirants showed interest by getting the form to
contest in the party’s primary election that would hold on 27th August
    of this year.”

He further added that the forms were free for female aspirants.
SaharaReporters investigation revealed that Mrs. Jumoke
Ajasin-Anifowoshe is the only female gubernatorial aspirant in the
    party.

She is also the first daughter of the late erstwhile Governor of
Ondo State and among other male aspirants jostling to get the party’s
ticket ahead of the primary contest.

It was gathered from party sources that these aspirants have been
given the deadline of Monday 8 August 2016 to submit the forms to the
    APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, the party’s publicist in Ondo State who
spoke with SaharaReporters on Sunday, confirmed the deadline for the
submission of the forms to our correspondent in a chat.
“However, the screening of aspirants would start in Abuja at the
National Secretariat of the party as from Tuesday the 9th to Friday
the 12th of August 2016,” Mr. Adesanya said.

Underground calculations being carried out by our correspondent is
revealing that no fewer than 2,954 delegates would determined the fate
of these overwhelming aspirants by choosing a candidate for the party
    during the primary election.

SaharaReporters’ latest information revealed that many of these
aspirants had already begun soliciting and begging for votes of these
delegates ahead of the party’s primary election.
A handful of them had been lobbying and bribing these delegates with
cash-gifts, properties and future promises, our reporter said.

There had been crisis in the opposition party over the endorsement of
a regional candidate, which has further caused rumpus among the
    political elders and the supporters.

Despite the crisis, supporters of the party are optimistic that they
would wrestle power from the incumbent beleaguered Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) government of Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
