A young American mother has been accused of baking her newborn daughter to d£ath in an oven

A young American mother has been accused of baking her newborn daughter to d£ath in an oven.

Mariah Thomas, 26, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after one-month-old Za’Riah Mae was found d£ad with ‘burn wounds’, according to an arrest warrant.

Cops were called to the mom’s Kansas City home to reports of a child not breathing on Friday, the day after Thomas’ birthday.

When they arrived, they found the infant covered in burns, with her ‘blackened’ clothing melted onto her diaper.

A devastated friend of Thomas’ told DailyMail that Za’Riah was a ‘very bubbly’ baby, who was ‘smiling all the time’.

She also suggested Thomas’ mental health may have played a role in the tragedy.

‘Mariah had mental issues from what I know and didn’t have the mindset of an adult, she thought like a child,’ the friend said, adding she last talked to the mom on Monday.

Za’Riah’s grandfather told police he received a call from her mom at around 1pm on Friday in which she told him ‘something was wrong with the baby and he needed to return home immediately’.

On returning home, he immediately began to smell smoke and found Za’Riah dead in her crib. Thomas told him she had ‘accidentally’ put her in the oven, according to court filings.

Za’Riah was discovered by police in a car seat inside her home with ‘apparent thermal injuries on various parts of her body’.

She was wearing a bodysuit over a diaper which appeared to have melted onto it and was ‘very dirty, possibly burned’. A charred baby blanket was also discovered and taken as evidence.

Thomas was transported to police headquarters for an interview where she invoked her Fifth Amendment right to remain silent. But she consented to detectives obtaining a blood draw and accessing her phone data.

Thomas’ social media presents her as a doting mom, who referred to her daughter as her ‘princess’.

In one disturbing post made just weeks before the tragedy, Thomas complained that nobody was looking out for her.

‘Mfs claim they my friend by don’t never check up on me or Za’Riah,’ she wrote on January 20.

Thomas is currently being held at the Jackson County Detention Center.

  • FORBIDDEN LOVE – The Story Of Nigérian ‘Trusted’ General

FORBIDDEN LOVE – The Story Of Nigérian ‘Trusted’ General

This is not the typical from grass to glory story of most footballers as he was born in Harlem, Netherlands to a Nigerian father from Akwa Ibom and a Dutch mother.
As a kid, he loved football but it was a forbidden love that led to a serious friction in his family between his parents.
He simply refused to give up on his love and it had serious consequences.
His father wanted him to go to school as he didn’t see any future in football for him and at the age of 12 sent him to a boarding school in England.
Ekong got to England and instead of focusing on his studies and gaining admission to the university fell more in love with the game of football.
After 3 years, his father was expecting him to return home with university admission but Ekong returned with documents to gain admission into a football Academy and this infuriated his father who refused to sign the documents.
“NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAM, BUT YOU DO”
With just one day remaining for Ekong to get his parents signature to allow him get admission into a football Academy, his mother who had always supported his football dreams signed the documents for him.
And this act further drove a wedge in an already “unstable” marriage which later lead to a divorce between his parents and a dispute between him and his father.
“IT DOESN’T ALWAYS GET EASY WHEN YOUR’E PURSUING YOUR DREAMS BUT HOLD ON!!!”

Mr. Ekong as a father just wanted the best for his son, an education but all his son wanted was to become a footballer.

Ekong went back to England and joined Tottenham Football Academy in London and it still wasn’t a fairy tale for him as things got even more difficult.

After 3 years at Tottenham, one of the coaches called him and his mum and told them, “Ekong isn’t good enough to become a footballer and that he should give up on football”.

“NEVER THINK YOU’RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH”

He left the academy but refused to give up on football because he couldn’t afford to go back at this point so he used it as a motivation to keep fighting.

     He returned
to the Netherlands where he joined a small team called Groningen in
2013 but was sent to FC Dordrecht on loan to help him find his feet as
    he kept on struggling.

After a year at FC Dordrecht where he did
well, he moved to Gent in 2015 to join the Belgium giants but found game
    time hard to come by.

“IT WILL GET DIFFICULT BEFORE IT GETS FINE”

    He
switched his national team allegiance from the Netherlands to Nigeria
after representing the Netherlands at the Under-19 and 20 youth levels.

This move coincided with an upswing in his career.

He was sent on loan to Norway where he did well and this led to him moving to Turkish club, Bursaspor in 2017.

After a year in Turkey, he earned himself a move to join Italian Serie A side, Udinese.

In 2018 after the World Cup reconciled with his father who could now see his son fulfil his dreams.

“GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO DON’T GIVE UP!!!”

    Troost
Ekong became a very important member of the Udinese team and after 2
years in Italy earned a dream move to the England where he signed for
Championship side, Watford, who he helped gain promotion to the EPL in
    his first season.

At this point he was also having a successful
international career with Nigeria, winning the Olympic bronze medal with
the Nigerian Under-23 and forming a solid rock partnership with Leon
    Balogun at the national team.

A partnership, Nigerians called “The Oyibo Wall”

“GIVING UP SHOULD NEVER BE AN OPTION”

In January 2023, he joined Italian side, Salernitana where he had an injury hit season and had only 9 appearances.

    This
lead to him being dropped from the National team and even after he
moved to Greece where he recovered his form and was playing regularly,
he wasn’t still invited back to the Nigerian team and this went on for
close to a year and Ekong almost thought of retiring from international
    football.

“I KNOW YOU’RE THINKING OF GIVING UP, DON’T, NOT YET”

    After
giving it a deep thought, he decided to keep waiting, even when he got a
call back, he was always left on the bench but he never stopped working
    hard.

He regained his place back into the starting line up and
made it to the AFCON and since day one has remained the BEST CENTRAL
DEFENDER in the tournament and has now led Nigeria to the AFCON finals
    scoring three high pressure penalties.

“DO YOU STILL WANT TO GIVE UP???”

If it’s worth having then it’s worth fighting for. No good thing comes easy.

    Nothing
good comes overnight and it might be difficult for weeks, days and even
years but eventually it will all make sense if you don’t give up.

And trust me, it’s ALWAYS worth it, the smile at the end is always worth all the struggles!!!

    “NO GREE FOR ANYBODY OOOOH”

  • AFCON: South Africa head coach Hugo Broos says his side’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final defeat to Nigeria on penalties is hard to accept

AFCON: South Africa head coach Hugo Broos says his side’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final defeat to Nigeria on penalties is hard to accept

South Africa head coach, Hugo Broos, feels his side played better against Nigeria in Wednesday’s semi-finals encounter which they lost 4-2 on penalties in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The Bafana Bafana came back from a goal down to take the game to penalties but ended up losing.

Reacting to their defeat, Broos explained his side played much better and deserved to win the game.

“Football can be hard sometimes, when you see the performance of my team today, and then there is penalties, and then you lose the penalties and you are not in the finals, it’s hard to accept that because we play very good game today.

“I think we were the best team in the first half, we got the best chances, Nigeria didn’t have any chance. Second half they have few chances which resulted in a goal and we changed something tactically, and we could comeback,” he said.

He added, “We created more chances which means if we had scored, we would have been in the final and not Nigeria.

The Belgian tactician hailed his team for what has been a great tournament for them.

“It’s a big disappointment for everyone, we believe we played a very good game, not just today but throughout the tournament. I’m proud of my players, the disappointment is this but the proudness is that,” he concluded.

South Africa will now face D.R Congo, who lost the second semi-final to hosts Ivory Coast in the third place playoff on Saturday, February 10.
