EAF Marks 5th Anniversary, Commissions Ondo Office

The Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Foundation (EAF), a non-profit organisation dedicated to women’s health, celebrated its fifth anniversary on Friday, May 24, 2025, with the commissioning of its new operational office in Ondo Kingdom.

Founded by Mrs. Olabimpe Fapohunda, the event drew medical professionals, political figures, traditional leaders, and members of the public, who gathered to reflect on the foundation’s achievements and future goals.

Mrs. Fapohunda, who has lived with endometriosis for 25 years and was later diagnosed with adenomyosis, recounted her personal experience which inspired the foundation’s creation.

“I went undiagnosed for 16 years. That pain birthed this foundation so others won’t suffer in silence,” she said, while thanking her family, especially her husband, and the EAF team.

Since its inception, EAF has conducted awareness campaigns across Lagos, Oyo, and Ondo States, visiting several schools and institutions including St. Monica’s, Fiwasaye, and the Federal University of Technology, Akure, among others.

Guest speaker, Dr. Michael Gbala, CMD of UNIMED Teaching Hospital, delivered a lecture on the causes, symptoms, and treatment of endometriosis and adenomyosis. He urged women to seek medical advice for irregular menstrual symptoms.

Former lawmaker, Hon. Sunday Olajide, commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. “We must encourage our girls to speak out and support them,” he said.

There was also an interactive health session with medical students and nurses, where many attendees admitted it was their first time learning about the conditions.

Elderly guests received care packages, while children were gifted items. Some EAF staff members were also honoured with awards and cash prizes in recognition of their service.

Dignitaries present included Hon. (Mrs.) Cecilia Ifayase, Hon. Patience Arinola Adamolekun, Hon. John Folajimi Akintunde, and Nurse Olufunke Olofinnika, who represented Prof. Oye Abimbola Oluwatosin.

With the new office now operational, EAF says it is ready to expand its advocacy and support programmes across Nigeria.

  • Ijaw Youth Council Urges Aiyedatiwa to Appoint OSOPADEC Chairman from Ese-Odo LGA

Ijaw Youth Council Urges Aiyedatiwa to Appoint OSOPADEC Chairman from Ese-Odo LGA

Youth group recommends Hon. Ofoyeju Udouboh, citing historical exclusion and unwavering loyalty

The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Arogbo Clan, has made a formal appeal to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State to consider appointing the next Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC, from Ese-Odo Local Government Area. This call is rooted in a strong sense of historical exclusion and a desire for equitable representation among the oil-producing communities of the state.

In a press statement signed by Comrade Toibokumoh Arigidi, Chairman of the IYC Arogbo Clan, and Comrade Kimi Meshach, the Publicity Secretary, the youth body highlighted that despite Ese-Odo’s significant contribution to the state’s oil wealth, no individual from the local government area has ever been appointed as Chairman of OSOPADEC. The highest office ever occupied by an Ese-Odo indigene within the commission was that of Permanent Secretary, a position once held by Dr. Victor Koledoye during the administration of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu.

The statement noted that the Ijaw Youth Council has historically refrained from political lobbying, but felt morally compelled to speak out in the interest of justice and fairness. The Council specifically recommended Hon. Ofoyeju Udouboh for the chairmanship. Hon. Udouboh is a grassroots politician, a former Leader of the Ese-Odo Legislative Council, and the current Secretary of the Arogbo Local Council Development Area. According to the IYC, he has remained a loyal supporter of Governor Aiyedatiwa since 2015 and continues to serve the party diligently without making personal demands.

The statement clarified that this recommendation is not sponsored by Hon. Udouboh and should not be viewed as an attempt to stoke division within the ruling party. It is simply based on his track record, loyalty, and competence. The group also acknowledged the qualifications of other individuals who have been mentioned in the public space, such as Mr. Banji Okuomo and Mr. Allen Sowore, the latter of whom has already distanced himself from active lobbying efforts and affirmed the Governor’s sole authority in making appointments.

The IYC expressed confidence in the wisdom and fairness of Governor Aiyedatiwa and urged him to use this opportunity to address the long-standing structural imbalance. They stressed that giving Ese-Odo the chance to lead OSOPADEC for the first time would send a strong message of inclusivity, justice, and unity across the oil-producing communities in Ondo State.

The youth council concluded by wishing the Governor continued success as he leads the state with dedication and a commitment to equitable development.

    Press Release

    Date: May 25, 2025

Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Arogbo Clan, Demands Appointment of OSOPADEC Chairman from Ese-Odo LGA

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Arogbo Clan, has been closely observing recent political developments in Ondo State. As a non-partisan body, we rarely concern ourselves with the activities of political actors. However, we have a moral obligation to speak against injustice and advocate for the rights and fair representation of our people.

With Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration in the process of constituting its cabinet and strategic boards for effective governance, we believe it is only fair that those who stood firmly by him before, during, and after the elections be considered for key positions of influence.

Recently, we noted an online publication by the Ilaje Youth Development Forum (IYDF) projecting Mr. Banji Okuomo for the position of Chairman, Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC). Not long after, another interest group — yet to be properly identified — surfaced in support of Mr. Allen Sowore, who has since distanced himself from the lobbying efforts and reiterated that only the Governor has the power to make such appointments.

While we acknowledge that both Mr. Okuomo and Mr. Sowore are eminently qualified, we wish to draw attention to the historical and structural imbalance in appointments to the leadership of OSOPADEC. Since its establishment, no individual from Ese-Odo Local Government Area has ever chaired the commission. The highest appointment so far has been that of Dr. Victor Koledoye, who served as Permanent Secretary during the administration of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN. Notably, Dr. Koledoye is from the Apoi axis of Ese-Odo.

Given that the OSOPADEC was created to serve oil-producing communities — with Ese-Odo being one of such — the continuous exclusion of our people from chairing the commission is an oversight that needs urgent redress.

We, therefore, appeal to His Excellency, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to consider appointing a competent son or daughter of Ese-Odo, particularly from the Arogbo axis, as Chairman of OSOPADEC. A fitting and well-grounded candidate in this regard is Hon. Ofoyeju Udouboh — a grassroots politician, former Leader of the Ese-Odo Legislative Council, and current Secretary of Arogbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA). Hon. Ofoyeju has been a close political ally of the Governor since 2015 and has remained a committed and loyal party man.

As a youth body that believes in the potential of young leaders, we respectfully recommend Hon. Ofoyeju for this role. We trust in his capacity to manage the affairs of the commission effectively and with integrity.

This recommendation is not sponsored by Hon. Ofoyeju Udouboh, nor is it intended to cause division within the ruling party. It is simply based on our understanding of his character and contributions. While the final decision lies with the Governor, we humbly urge that any choice made should reflect fairness, equity, and the spirit of inclusivity that modern governance demands.

We wish His Excellency great success as he continues to lead Ondo State with wisdom and dedication.

    Signed:

    Comr. Toibokumoh Arigidi

Chairman, Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Arogbo Clan

    Comr. Kimi Meshach

Publicity Secretary, Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Arogbo Clan

WIKE BOMBSHELL: FCT Minister Pulls Out Of PDP Agreements, Vows To Fight On Till Justice Prevails

Accuses Makinde and Mbah of Betrayal, Faults PDP Over Violated Pacts
The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has taken a fresh and explosive turn as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, declared his withdrawal from all previously reached agreements within the party. In a detailed and fiery statement titled “PDP Crisis: My Position,” Wike laid bare a catalogue of betrayals, failed reconciliations, and internal sabotage that he claims have continued to cripple the PDP since the 2023 general elections.
Wike stated that dishonesty and lack of trust among key party stakeholders remain the root causes of the party’s instability. He emphasized that efforts had been made to salvage the party from these destructive tendencies. According to him, these efforts culminated in a G5 meeting in Lagos where he confronted the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, accusing him of being the primary architect of the PDP’s problems. Despite the confrontation, the meeting ended with an agreement to move forward in unity.
Wike revealed that a follow-up meeting held at the Abuja residence of Senator Bukola Saraki included Governors Makinde, Umaru Fintiri, Bala Mohammed, and himself. At the meeting, Wike restated that he had no personal grudge against Governor Bala Mohammed but expressed concerns that Bala routinely failed to honour agreements while hiding under his position as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum. Though tensions ran high, the group managed to reach a number of key resolutions.
These resolutions included the affirmation of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the legitimate National Secretary of the party in line with a Supreme Court judgement, the withdrawal of all legal cases concerning Rivers State, the abandonment of any suit seeking the declaration of a state of emergency, and a mutual commitment to uphold these decisions.
Wike explained that despite having numerous prior engagements, he accepted the request to attend a broader stakeholders’ meeting at the Bauchi Government Lodge. There, he restated his concerns and participated in the formation of a reconciliation committee chaired by Senator Saraki to handle pending disputes.
However, the Minister said he was shocked that even before the reconciliation committee could begin its work, the resolutions earlier reached had been deliberately violated. Wike accused Governor Makinde of working in cahoots with Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah to organize a meeting of South-East PDP leaders, where it was resolved that unless Ude Okoye was adopted as National Secretary, the region would pull out of the party. Wike dismissed the resolution as invalid and rejected it outright.
He further accused Makinde of orchestrating moves within the PDP National Secretariat to declare the Deputy National Secretary as Acting National Secretary, despite earlier agreements to the contrary. According to Wike, a letter was issued by the Deputy National Secretary convening a NEC meeting. In addition, a letter confirming the PDP governorship candidate for the Anambra State elections, properly signed by Senator Anyanwu and the Acting National Chairman, was invalidated by another letter from the National Publicity Secretary, allegedly acting under the orders of Makinde and Mbah.
Wike described all these moves as clear violations of the resolutions painstakingly agreed upon. He gave a glaring example of the breakdown in internal order when, on May 24, 2025, a zonal congress of the PDP scheduled in Jos had to be aborted. The Independent National Electoral Commission refused to attend the congress because the official invitation was not signed by the legally recognized National Secretary, Senator Anyanwu.
The FCT Minister stated that his loyalty to the PDP dates back to 1998 and is unmatched by most of the current actors. He reminded the public that he played a major role in securing the electoral victories of several of the governors now undermining party unity, and that despite this, he has never made any personal demands of them. He expressed disappointment that trust has now completely broken down and that the same pattern of betrayal has also been evident in the recent North-Central zonal elections.
Declaring his new position, Wike announced that he was officially pulling out of all existing agreements within the party. He pledged to fight on until justice is served, vowing never to allow impunity and betrayal to determine the fate of the PDP.
This latest development is expected to generate ripple effects across party lines as stakeholders and political observers await reactions from the PDP National Working Committee, governors, and other party leaders. Wike’s declaration underscores deepening tensions within the opposition and throws into question the party’s preparedness for national cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections.

  • Aiyedatiwa Kicks Off Tenure Elongation Campaign, Lobbies NASS Members, Engages SANs

Aiyedatiwa Kicks Off Tenure Elongation Campaign, Lobbies NASS Members, Engages SANs

Indications have emerged that the Ondo state governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has commenced discreet moves to lobby the National Assembly members for the amendment of Section 183(3) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Fourth Alteration, No. 16) Act, 2017.
Recall that the law, which came into effect on June 1, 2019, during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, stipulates that a person who assumes the office of governor complete the tenure of an elected governor due to death, resignation, impeachment, or permanent incapacity, is only eligible to be elected to that office for one additional term of four years.
Sources within the state government told Vanguard in Akure, the state capital that the lobby of the National Assembly was one leg of the deft political moves by the governor to avoid being caught up by the provisions of the amended section of the Constitution.
An associate of the governor, confided in Vanguard that not less than six Senior Advocates have been consulted to approach the Supreme Court for further interpretation of the Constitution in respect of the subject matter.
Based on this Constitutional provision, Aiyedatiwa, who became governor on December 27, 2023, following the death of his predecessor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, is entitled to only one additional term. That term commenced on February 25, 2025, following his victory in the November 2024 governorship election.
However, political observers have noted that barely three months into his tenure, following the February swearing-in, Aiyedatiwa’s supporters have begun campaigning on social media for his re-election in 2028.
Recall that a few weeks ago, one of the Governor’s Senior Special Assistants, Mr Kehinde Akinrotoye, shared an opinion article written by one Shola Elekan, which argued that Aiyedatiwa remains eligible to contest in the 2028 governorship election in the state.
Elekan said that Aiyedatiwa, who was sworn in as Deputy Governor alongside the late Governor Akeredolu on February 25, 2021, is still qualified to seek re-election in 2028, despite assuming the office of governor on December 27, 2023.
He backed his argument with Section 182(1)(b) of the Constitution, which provides: “No person shall be qualified for election to the office of Governor of a State if he has been elected to such office at any two previous elections.”
Elekan, who also referenced some judicial precedents, argued that Aiyedatiwa did not emerge through an election in 2023 and that the first time he would be elected as governor would be in the November 2024 election.
According to him ” by the Constitution, he said Aiyedatiwa should be eligible for a second term.
A top aide to the governor and a Chieftain of the ruling party in the state, confirmed to vanguard, the ongoing efforts to lobby the National Assembly to amend Section 183(3) of the 1999 Constitution.
According to him “Well, it’s too early to publicly discuss the 2028 governorship election when we just concluded the 2024 poll.
“However, that doesn’t mean that behind-the-scene work is not ongoing ahead of 2028.
“In politics, it’s all about give and take. Two weeks ago, one of the Governor’s nominees for the South West Development Commission (SWDC) board, Razak Obe, was reportedly replaced with Joshua Olufehinti by some influential senators.
Vanguard gathered from the source that as part of the deal that made Aiyedatiwa to capitulate in respect of the loss suffered regarding Obe’s nomination, he was said to have approached a ranking senator amongst the leadership of the upper chamber to assist in lobbying lawmakers to effect a possible Constitutional Amendment.
The source said that the governor’s move should not be seen as being desperate or for personal gain, but for political stability in the state
According to him “In Ondo State, there is an unwritten arrangement to rotate the governorship among the three senatorial districts.
“Between 2009 and 2017, former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, from Ondo Central, served eight years.
“He was succeeded by Akeredolu from Ondo North, who, but for his death, would have completed another eight-year cycle in February 2025.
“When former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi from Ondo South contested against Akeredolu in 2020, the people of Ondo South rejected him, believing it was not yet their turn. Ajayi lost all six local government areas in the district.
“If this section of the Constitution is not amended, it could deprive Ondo South of the chance to produce a governor for a full eight years.
“Electing another person from the South in 2028, other than Aiyedatiwa might lead to rejection by other districts, as it would mean the South would hold power for 12 years.
Meanwhile, a legal practitioner, Barrister Wale Legbon Odusola, has dismissed the calls for Aiyedatiwa’s re-election in 2028, describing those behind the push as political jobbers.
Odusola criticized Elekan’s legal interpretation, arguing that it is intended to distract the governor from his duties.
“As far as the current Constitution is concerned, Mr Aiyedatiwa cannot contest again unless there is an amendment. Section 183(3) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, addresses this issue. It clearly states:
“A person who was sworn in as Governor to complete the term for which another person was elected as Governor shall not be elected to such office for more than a single term.’
“This provision was added to the Constitution in 2018 as Act No. 10 and was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari. All the precedents cited by the writer refer to the old law. Let us be properly guided.
He appealed to the governor “to remain focused on his assignment and not be distracted by political jobbers.
Efforts to speak with the state Attorney General and Justice Commissioner Kayode Ajulo, on the latest developments proved abortive.
But an aide to Aiyedatiwa, neither denied nor confirm the latest move of the governor.
According to him ” what’s all these noise about another term for the governor, to when we get to the river, we will know how to cross it.
” It’s too early to start talking about this please, they should stop distracting the governor.
He added that ” When the governor finished his four years, then we will know what next to do. They should just relax and wait as events unfold.

  • Akingbaso Clears Air on N1 Billion Constituency Project Allocation in 2025 Budget

Akingbaso Clears Air on N1 Billion Constituency Project Allocation in 2025 Budget

Member of the House of Representatives representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso, has responded to widespread inquiries and public commentary regarding his constituency’s share in the 2025 Appropriation Act, assuring constituents of transparency and accountability in project implementation.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, May 15, 2025, Hon. Akingbaso clarified that the N1 billion worth of constituency projects allocated to each member of the House under the current administration is yet to be implemented, as the 2025 Appropriation Act, though passed, is still awaiting execution by the Federal Government.
He explained that under the former arrangement, lawmakers were able to influence N400 million worth of constituency projects. However, the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu increased government revenue, inflation, and in response, the Federal Executive raised the allocation to N1 billion for House members and N2 billion for senators to enable them address grassroots needs.
“It is public knowledge that the Federal Government has continued implementing the 2024 budget, while the 2025 budget is yet to be operational. The current projects being executed in our constituency are still under the 2024 budget,” he stated.
Hon. Akingbaso noted that while lawmakers influence the selection of projects, the actual disbursement of funds and execution is handled by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). He assured constituents that he has already submitted high-impact projects for consideration, and these were duly captured in the 2025 Appropriation Act.
“I am happy that people are paying attention and seeking information. Once the funds are approved and released, I will ensure that the public is duly informed,” the lawmaker added.
The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation also expressed gratitude for the support and prayers of his constituents, reaffirming his commitment to effective representation and grassroots development.
