    The Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), on Friday, received the management team of Hero Magazine at its Akure secretariat, engaging in robust discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration and communication.
    Welcoming the visitors, the Director-General of AMG, Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, described the media as a vital partner in nation-building and a key ally in the group’s mission to promote and share the message of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasised that Hero Magazine’s visit was timely, as AMG remains committed to openness, accountability, and fostering constructive dialogue with stakeholders.
    “The media plays a critical role in shaping society. We in AMG value every effort that promotes transparency and development, and we are delighted to deepen our relationship with Hero Magazine.” He noted.
    In his reaction, the CEO and Publisher of Hero Magazine International, Asiwaju (Dr) Akinbiola Sunday, commended the leadership of AMG for their visionary drive and readiness to embrace media partnership. He stated that the consultation tour was part of the magazine’s effort to spotlight impactful organisations and strengthen synergy with stakeholders across the nation.
    As part of the visit, the Hero Magazine team was taken on a guided tour of the AMG Secretariat, where they inspected the building and facilities. They expressed admiration for the structures on ground and lauded the visionary leadership of AMG in putting such an impressive edifice together as a hub for coordination and strategy.
    The Hero Magazine delegation included Engr. Taiwo Oyesiji, a BOT member of Hero Magazine International; Miss Lijoka Yemisi, Associate Editor; and Miss Damilola Jejelowo, the magazine’s photographer.
    The management team of the magazine was warmly received by the AMG leadership, including the Ondo State Commissioner at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Otito Atikase; the Secretary of AMG, Barrister Corporal Nana Opiri; and the Director of Legal Matters, Barrister Pelemo Ade Samuel.

    Group Urges APC To Monitor Ondo Gov’s Political Moves Ahead Of 2027
    Raises Alarm Over Low Voter Registration Turnout in Ondo
    Challenges Aiyedatiwa’s Commitment To Tinubu’s Re-Election Bid
    A Socio-Political group, the South West Progressive Vanguard (SWPV), has called on the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to closely monitor the political activities of Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, 
    The group cited concerns over his commitment to the party’s goals for the 2027 general elections, especially President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
    In a statement issued by its Coordinator, Elder Adewale Jackson, the group expressed disappointment over the low turnout in Ondo State during the ongoing 2025 nationwide continuous voter registration exercise. 
    According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 1,379,342 Nigerians registered during the online registration phase of the exercise that began on August 18. However, only 3,426 individuals registered in Ondo State.
    Among the six geopolitical zones, the Southwest region recorded the highest number of newly registered voters, with Osun registering 393,269, Lagos 222,205, Ogun 132,823, Oyo 66,951, and Ekiti 29,685.
    SWPV attributed Ondo’s low figures to what was described as poor awareness campaigns and a lack of mobilisation efforts by the state’s APC-led government.
    The group reminded the party leadership of the strong support Ondo State provided during the 2023 presidential election under the leadership of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, who served as the state coordinator for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign. 
    The group noted that Ondo delivered the highest percentage of votes for Tinubu among all states. 
    However, it expressed concern that the current administration’s apparent lack of enthusiasm could jeopardise similar success in 2027.
    “We are worried that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s lukewarm approach to creating awareness and mobilising residents for the voter registration exercise may hinder President Tinubu’s re-election project. 
    “Unlike other southwest states where governors have actively engaged their citizens, it appears the Ondo State government has not prioritised this critical exercise.” the group noted.
    The SWPV, which aims to mobilise support for Tinubu in each southwest state, expressed fears that the APC risks losing Ondo State if urgent action is not taken.
    “We applaud Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State for directing his party executives to mobilise Ogun State residents. This has resulted in strong participation.
    “Similarly, Osun State has recorded an impressive turnout, even as it prepares for its 2026 governorship election. Our joy is that Governor Ademola Adeleke, despite being a PDP member, has openly endorsed President Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.”
    The SWPV raised concerns that Governor Aiyedatiwa appears preoccupied with positioning himself for the 2028 Ondo governorship election. 
    “Unfortunately, Ondo is lagging. Governor Aiyedatiwa has not done enough to mobilise residents for this crucial exercise. Apart from his poor performance in office over the last two years, his political strategy seems entirely focused on 2028. If proper monitoring is not put in place, APC could lose ground in Ondo,” the group warned.

    Akure To Shut Markets Friday For Annual Amole Festival

    The Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom has announced the closure of all markets, shops, and stalls in the city on Friday, August 29, 2025, in observance of the annual Amole Festival.

    According to a statement signed by the monarch’s Chief Press Secretary, Adeyeye Michael, the closure is part of long-established rites associated with the festival, which is one of the age-long traditions of Akure people.

    The palace warned that no market, stall, or shop will be allowed to open during the festival. “There will be no opening of markets, stalls, trading or opening of shops under any guise during the festival. Residents, market women and shop owners are kindly enjoined to abide by this directive and ensure strict observance of the rules,” the statement read.

    The palace, however, clarified that the directive does not apply to pharmacy shops and patent medicine stores, which are exempted from closure. It also added that human and vehicular movement will not be restricted during the festival.

    The Amole Festival, rooted in the cultural and spiritual heritage of Akure, is observed annually with rites that require a complete shutdown of commercial activities in the city.

    The event, themed “From Farm to Fortune: Exploring Ideas to Boost Agriculture”, was held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Sunshine Holiday Resort & Hotel Limited, Ilekun, Akure. It featured a sit-out and policy discourse aimed at proffering solutions to enhance agricultural productivity and wealth creation in Ondo State and beyond.
    Guest Speaker, Prof. Ahmed Balogun, a renowned scholar and Professor of Meteorology & Climate Science at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, delivered an insightful lecture that emphasised practical ideas and innovations to reposition agriculture as a driver of economic growth.
    In attendance were key leaders of the AMG, including the Director General, Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, NDDC Commissioner, Hon. Otito Atikase, members of the state executive council, and other distinguished personalities.
    In the spirit of camaraderie and togetherness, AMG, in its characteristic family way, presented gifts to the celebrant in recognition of his service, commitment, and contributions to the group and the State.

    The Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) has secured a major boost in its grassroots mobilisation drive following a strategic meeting with a conglomeration of artisan associations across Ondo State.
    The meeting, which was held under the leadership of the Director General of AMG, Asiwaju Muyiwa Asagunla, brought together key representatives of various artisan bodies led by Hon. Daisi Komolafe, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Artisan Matters and Coordinator of the Association of Nigeria Artisans and Technicians (ASNAT), Ondo State Chapter.
    Also in attendance were Mr. Ismaila Akorede, Chairman of the Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN), Ondo State Chapter; Mr. Shitu Kehinde, Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Union of Tailors (NUT), Ondo State Chapter; Prince Oyesola, President of the NUT and Secretary of ASNAT; and Comrade Ife Morgan, Real Estate Manager, Akure South Local Government Area.
    In his opening remarks, Asagunla welcomed the delegation and provided a brief history of the AMG, describing it as a movement birthed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO), to promote the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
    “The Renewed Hope Agenda is the bedrock of Nigeria’s transformation, aimed at restoring confidence and creating opportunities for both present and future generations, and Dr. Tunji-Ojo remains a key driver of this vision, and he is uniquely endowed with the knowledge and capacity to actualise a new Nigeria.” He said.
    Speaking on behalf of the visiting artisans, Hon. Komolafe expressed their readiness to key into the sensitisation drive of AMG, stressing that their support was not just symbolic but backed by a solid grassroots base.
    He disclosed that the artisan movement is representing over 367,000 supporters across Ondo State, all of whom are ready to work for the success of President Tinubu’s administration and his re-election bid in 2027.
    Komolafe further praised Dr. Tunji-Ojo, whom he described as a “wonder-boy” transforming the Ministry of Interior. He also applauded President Tinubu for positioning Ondo indigenes in strategic places, citing the appointment of Adesina Akinyemi from Ondo town as National Coordinator of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
    “Our conviction to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is unshakable. What we are witnessing today in terms of transformation and restoration of hope is second to none. The artisans are committed to going beyond Ondo State to spread this message.” Komolafe declared.
    As part of the outcome of the meeting, the artisan groups announced the appointment of coordinators across the three senatorial districts of Ondo State to strengthen mobilisation structures. Prince Oyesola, North Senatorial District, Comrade Ife Morgan, Central Senatorial District; Mr. Ismaila Akorede, South Senatorial District.

    The former SDP candidates, under the banner of the APC Young Leaders Network, came to officially identify with AMG and to declare their commitment to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid.
    Speaking on behalf of the group, the leaders expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and assured that they were ready to mobilise their structures, grassroots supporters, and resources to secure an electoral victory for the President in the coming polls.
    Welcoming the delegation, the Director General of AMG, Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, described their decision as timely and strategic.

    Renowned philanthropist and Business magnate, Dr. Tola Awosika, was the Special Guest of Honour at the 2025 Ekimogun Day Celebration, held on August 23rd in London. The annual cultural event, which brings together Ondo indigenes in the diaspora, celebrated unity, heritage and the ongoing development of Ondo Kingdom.
    Addressing the audience during his keynote speech, Dr. Awosika, as a proud Son of the soil, enunciated his excitement and pride at attending the UK edition for the first time.
    According to him, “I am excited to be here at this annual event. Even though it is my first time attending such in England, everyone looks beautiful, as Ondo people are always colorful.” 
     
    Reflecting on his role as the Chairman of the 2023 Ekimogun Day in Ondo Kingdom, where he made history as the youngest ever to chair the event, Dr. Awosika emphasized the importance of cultural gatherings as platforms for meaningful impact. 
     “That event was a point of contact to reach out and contribute to our Ondo communities. I can see a beautiful replication of that here today and I am so excited about it.” He said.
    He went on to appreciate the organizers of the London event and lauded the efforts of Ondo sons and daughters in the diaspora for remaining committed to development back home.
    “ For me, I see the people in the diaspora as the fourth arm of government, supporting our communities with laudable initiatives and holding our office holders accountable across all levels. I look forward to attending more events like this.” He concluded.
    Dr. Awosika served not only as the keynote speaker, but also as the chief launcher of the 2025 UK edition. He made a substantial financial contribution, donating the sum of Five Million Naira (#5,000,000.00) as a catalyst for the pertinent project of more solar street lights in sensitive areas, which will not only accentuate the infrastructure of Ondo City but curb insecurities in areas challenged with total darkness in Ondo kingdom. This was hitherto achieved with his friends and associates who also accompanied him by supporting the initiative with robust donations as well.
    The Ekimogun Day, traditionally celebrated in Ondo Kingdom, is replicated in various countries to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of the Ondo people. The event also serves as a unifying pedigree, transcending political, social and religious divides. This year’s celebration in the UK drew participation from well-meaning individuals and dignitaries from different countries who have hitherto contributed immensely to the growth of Ondo Kingdom.
    The Ondo community in the UK has a long history of impactful charitable works, including the donation of food items to orphanages, the installation of solar-powered streetlights and the provision of COVID-19 relief materials during the pandemic.     CYLi-PDP Congratulates Damagum On Confirmation As Substantive PDP National Chairman

    The Council of Young Leaders in the People’s Democratic Party (CYLi-PDP) has congratulated Hon. Umar Iliya Damagum on his confirmation as the substantive National Chairman of the PDP.
    In a statement released to newsmen on Monday afternoon in Akure, the Ondo State capital, and signed by the support group’s Team Lead, Wándé T. Àjàyí, the Council congratulated the Party on the success of the 102nd National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, describing it as a landmark in the continuous strengthening of internal democracy within the PDP.
    The Council described the confirmation of Hon. Damagum as a demonstration of the PDP’s commitment to stability and continuity, noting that while some parties in Nigeria are consumed by endless infighting, autocracy, and propaganda, the PDP has once again shown itself to be the only truly national and people-centered political platform.
    The statement further emphasized that Hon. Damagum’s steady leadership in an acting capacity has already proven his capacity to manage crises with wisdom and tact—qualities glaringly absent in the ruling party, as Nigerians continue to suffer untold hardship, economic mismanagement, and insecurity under the APC’s inept government.
    CYLi-PDP urged all members, leaders, and stakeholders of the Party to rally round the new substantive Chairman in unity of purpose, stressing that only the PDP has the structure, experience, and political will to rescue the country from the current administration’s culture of deceit without delivery.
    The Council also commended the maturity and decorum displayed at the 102nd NEC meeting, describing it as a clear signal to Nigerians that unlike the APC, which thrives on division and empty promises, the PDP remains the most organized, enduring, and dependable political family in the nation.
    While congratulating Hon. Umar Iliya Damagum once again, CYLi-PDP reaffirmed its unwavering support for the National Leadership of the Party and reiterated its resolve to mobilize millions of young people across Nigeria toward the urgent task of restoring hope, rebuilding confidence, and reclaiming Nigeria from the suffocating grip of the APC.
